What's this about denying used game sales?

I'm sure I'm late to this, I don't keep up too much with games today, but do publishers think that by refusing to have their games sold used will increase sales? The reason their games get traded in to GameStop has everything to do with the game's quality. A good place to start is to focus less on milking the cow, less on pretty graphics, less on fads, and maybe do something fun and original. Has anyone here traded in a game that fit that criteria? By 'banning' used sales they're not going to increase sales, because the same person who didn't want to pay $60 yesterday won't pay $60 tomorrow. He'll either find a better game for his money or turn to piracy. Well that's my two cents, had to get it out there :)

No matter what they try to do you will always be able to find used games. Craigslist would be an example of a place I am positive you will still be able to find used games from people just selling them directly to you.

If I remember correctly a person sold an unopen autocad at a yard sale and that they say it broke his contract as the end user. Funny, So you brake the law by selling a unopen product is illegal. I guess Walmart should be arrested.

It's not the same thing. Walmart is an authorized distributor of the software they sell. A yard sale doesn't have a reseller license. Not that it matters. Refusing used games sales is done for the same reason as always-online-DRM, CD keys and code wheels, in a desperate attempt to recover lost revenue from the software pirates. That entire issue is the topic of another thread, but let's just say that it's doubtful that this new method will work any better than any of the other ones did.
