A lot of hit games have come out/are coming out lately, and what do they all have in common? (besides being awesome) They're all coming out on tuesdays. First it was HALO 3: ODST which came out September 22 Then just recently it was COD4: MW2 which came out November 10th Then next up it's Left 4 dead 2 and Assassin's creed II coming out November 17th I don't get why, I'd think a more reasonable day of the week would be Thursday or Friday, but that's my opinion. Why do you guys think they're all coming out on Tuesdays?wiistation36000
All, well the majority, of games, music, dvd's comes out on Tuesdays
That's just how it's done in NA, right? In the UK the majority of games come out on Fridays.Floppy_Jim
Lucky . . . :P anyways they come out on tuesdays in order for kids to miss school and hw.
This isn't a recent thing, its been in effect for decades and for all forms of media. I've heard it is because weekend sales are already strong, so its an attempt to get more people in the store during the week.
Don't see why its a big deal. If it comes out Tuesday, then wait to play or buy it over the weekend if you don't have time during the week.

But it makes me wonder why it would be on Tuesdays as opposed to say Monday or Wednesday or something.
I think Monday would be better, since there are nice things coming out that can make a sucky week slightly better :P
I think Tuesday is more in the middle of the week than Monday and that might have something to do with the earlier statement that publishers release games on Tuesdays to get people into the store. If you're wondering tc, this phenomenon of game releases on tuesdays is nothing new. If you consider Friday/Saturday as the primary days to go out shopping then you have Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Tuesday simply falls directly in the middle of the five non-shopping days. But it makes me wonder why it would be on Tuesdays as opposed to say Monday or Wednesday or something.

Yeah, I suppose if you put it that way it makes sense. Although I personally think weekends are when people are most likely to go shopping, so Wednesday is more the middle.

this actually smart cause most people get paid on fridays not tuesday's it would be easier to pick up and cash ya check and hit the storeIt's not coincidence. It's just standard business practice over here. Each and every week, some new game, music CD, or movie comes out and either they sell well or they do not, depending on the product.Maybe coincidince? Or maybe that is a day that games come out one. I HEART GAMES!!

Not 100% on this, but I think tuesday is the set day because the games/movies/music get shipped on fridays, andmost places getitems shipped on fridays on tuesday.
My understanding is that in Japan, they made a law that games can only be released on Saturdays because too many people were taking off work whenever a new Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy game came out.UT_WrestlerI heard that too... Pretty funny when you think about it :D
My understanding is that in Japan, they made a law that games can only be released on Saturdays because too many people were taking off work whenever a new Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy game came out.UT_WrestlerIn the case of Dragon Quest (Dragon Warrior in USA), that is true. Kids and adults would skip the day of either school or work just to be in line for the latest Dragon Quest game. The series, as a whole, is so popular over in Japan that the government had to step in and get a law to happen so that the game can be released on a day when people aren't working, like on a Saturday. It's true - Dragon Quest is more popular than Final Fantasy over in Japan, I believe.
Monday is the first day of the week, and then the games ship to the stores by Tuesday or Wednesday, right? It's a shipment thing. Maybe teleportation (or download only purchases) will one day allow games to be released on Mondays, but man... I totally vote for Friday or Saturday. That would be awesome. As it is, I never can truly dig in to a great new game for a few days.donalbane
Yeah, that's what I was going to say as well. I remember asking a sales associate who worked at Best Buy regarding a certain game that was out of stock and he told me that they normally receive shipments on Tuesdays.
