Why do so many people hate the KH series? I personally loved the entire series with the exception of 3D because I'm not buying a 3DS for 1 game.
But, is it because it has Disney characters in it? or is it something like "Oh, it's because it's 10+"?

The real question is what's wrong with Square-Enix? I think most people think highly of Kingdom hearts, at least the first two games, but for whatever reason Square insists on releasing all these spinoff that have mucked up the story so much that many have written the series off. Like me, everyone wants a true Kingdom Hearts 3, but Square being the turds they are these days refuses to give the fans what they want...nothing new there I guess...
Square Enix has been going down the Capcom path with the whole spin-offs and not listening to their fans.
The premis is stupid. I know, let's have Hideo Kojima mix Mario and Metal Gear for WiiU.Heirren
HAHA that would be epic!

According to Square Enix, Final Fantasy is failing in sales, and all their outside projects are sub-par, and are trying to bribe people with remaking FF7 if they buy more final fantasy games. It's not what's wrong with them, it's that they have pretty much told us they are scared for a console release Kingdom hearts. has KH done very well the last few portable entries? According to Square, not really. until we satisfy there insane Activision like sales requirements, you know, instead of building up the fanbase, than we won;t see kingdom Hearts 2.The real question is what's wrong with Square-Enix? When Disney is added to a title, it almost guarantees sales. It doesn't mean the series is terribly made, but it surely is something to be enjoyed amongst children and families, or guys and girlfriends--and there's nothing wrong with that I suppose. I stand by what I said though.

Absolutely it is. How am I supposed to take an RPG seriously if Mickey Mouse and freaking Goofy show up? What's next? God of War meets The Looney Tunes?
Depends on where you look, the majority of people I've talked to about the series over the entire internet, and in terms of IMDB aggregates and such, love the series. I'd say it's a rather safe majority, in fact, so I don't really see what the question entails. I at least love the series, BBS renewed my faith in it after 358/2 Days almost crushed it.
Overall, I have a pretty favorable opinion of the Kingdom Hearts series, but the gameplay is getting a little old, and it doesn't help that the story gets more boring over time instead of more interesting as new information comes to light.
Aside from being unable to skip cinematics, I liked just about everything about the original KH. I hated the reduced size/scope (literally or otherwise) and the generally lower difficulty of KH2, but the gameplay itself was still pretty good, and the story was at least satisfying. Chain of Memories on GBA wasn't the greatest game, but being able to replay the entire game as Riku was a pleasant surprise, and I enjoyed the whole "memory" gimmick of the story. 358/2 Days actually had an endearing story at times; it was nice to get to know Roxas and his place within Organization XIII. The mission-based gameplay made sense on a portable. Birth By Sleep introduced a whole bunch of new characters that just weren't terribly interesting, and placed within the grander context of the KH mythos, only served to make me shrug even harder rather than get antsy for the inevitable KHIII. The challenge of certain boss fights was appreciable at least.
Just bought KH3D today actually, and already, the plot is boring me, but ah well. The introduction of "sliding" as a gameplay mechanic definitely speeds up how you get around, but as a means of doing combat, it seems like each fight could easily degenerate into me spamming slide attacks until everything is dead. It's like a less practical version of using that off-the-wall downward slash to kill all the enemies in the first Ninja Gaiden on Xbox. Also, they've introduced a Pokemon-esque mechanic of using monsters as your allies in combat, and Jesus do we really need another game with a catch 'em all gimmick?
So, uh, yeah, my initial opinion of the game is not favorable, but I'll probably end up giving the game a score in the 7.0-8.0 range anyway when all is said and done.

Definitely sounds like Square-Enix :\. No company has been more sad to see go down the tubes imo. Not only have here games been mostly aweful since merging with Enix, but they have become notorious for pissing on their fanbase with broken promising, crappy spinoffs and sequals, day-1 and disc-locked DLC, I can go on and on. While Capcom has become corrupt and greedy as hell, at least most of thier games are still good. Square on the other hand is dead to me.

They have their ups though. The art direction in the 2 Final Fantasy games this gen is brilliant.Square Enix has not released Kingdom Hearts 3. There are games on the GBA, DS, 3DS, PSP. As well as proper KH 1,2 on Playstation 2. So the storyline is all over the place. Square Enix has milked the series and then spilled the said milk.

Think it was official when XIV came out and they apologized for it, it was not even done, and nobody actually did get their money back. I think they get a few costumes for their trouble. I don't mean to hurt the fans feelings but Square started dying right around the Ps2 launch really, ten was terrible objectively in every way like pacing story etc. and X-2 came out and 11 came out, from 11, the only sign was down, and down it went. This gen was just making sure we knew they were dead, i would say Eidos was their best decision since they would be in huge trouble without them. Let's take a look at this gen: Their first decision this gen was to release the terrible hated and buggy , Final Fantasy XI again, but ported to the Xbox 360. Nice job guys. They then released Project Sylpheed on the Xbox 360 which had a good concept and had great ideas, but rushed deadline, and lack of advertising to focus more on FFXi and upcoming games make this game not even exist, bet not one person here other than me even nows what PS is. They released Dragon quest Swords on the Wii. Which then they decided to bring it to the U.S. without much in the way of letting western DQ fans even no it was there. It was at least decent though. They released infinite undiscovery for the Xbox 360 with no marketing, and apparently there were some problems between them and Tri-Ace. The Last Remnant was terrible, and you had to mod the Pc version to even get a decent game as the Xbox 360 version was a rushed out job. They Released Star Ocean 4, and i don't even have to say anything, you already know what's up with that. They then Re-release Star Ocean poor for Ps3 because they thought it was a good idea. Then We get Final Fantasy XiiI Then they release Nier. Then they released Mind Jack because shooters with final fantasy engine=Fans must want at the Square Enic office. Then Final Fantasy Xiii-2 Final Fantasy XIV fits somewhere in their. And that sums of Square Enix this gen. It also doesn't help it's not that different on portables with the only primary exception being debatable The World Ends with You and maybe Crisis Core. Yep, this gen nothing really there for Square Enix fans, well unless you like what Eidos has done.[QUOTE="Doublexiii"]

I bought 1,2, and the PS2 remake for the GBA game and Im playing 1 right now. My only beef with this one is not being able to control the camera with the right stick. Other than that I love it, cant wait to play the other 2 then 3D and maybe the DS games.
I don't think there's anything wrong with Kingdom Hearts or Square-Enix, it's just that people don't want Disney mixing with Final Fantasy. The story is messing lately, but I'm sure it will clear up once KH3 comes out. I loved the Kingdom Hearts series so far & I really don't have a problem with understanding the series & "spinoffs".

they are giving their fans what they want, the Japanese fans, which are the only fans square gives two sh!ts about.
In japan where handhelds are three trillion times more popular, the kingdom hearts spin offs had a much better reception.
