Whats your favourite gaming controller of all time on any console? (3rd Party Controllers Included)

For me it would have to be the original Gamecube controller. It shapes to my hands really well is great for long gaming sessions.

I think the PS3's Six-axis Dualshock 3 needs a serious re-design. It's pretty much the same controller I was using 13 years ago on the PS1. I love Playstation consoles/games, but the controller is anything but perfect. Sony should seriously consider changing the shape for the PS4 or make a new controller for the PS3.

Xbox 360's (wait does it actually have a name?) And 2nd place goes to PS2's and the second Xbox conroller. That Xbox controller was so confortable to use but PS2's had slightly better button placement so I say that's a tie.

I actually didn't like the GC gamepad at all. A few things I hated about it were the d-pad's location and the shoulder buttons. Once I tried to play SC2 with the GC gamepad and it just didn't feel right. I was so used to the diamond button layout and it was hard having to adapt to the GC's weird layout. For me, it would have to be the Playstation controller hands down. To me, it is sheer perfection.

This perfect wonder:

Every controller since took inpiration from it.

I don't like the GC controller too much myself, it looks great design-wise, but the D pad is a joke and the Z button is just poor.

My favourite would have to be the Dualshock 3 due to its button layout and how comforatable it is for my small child hands.

True, modern controllers have the rumble mechanism, which is cool, but very heavy :( Anyway, Nintendo needs to bring this design back and add a couple analog sticks. That'd make my day.

I've only ever really used N64, PS1, Xbox S and Xbox Fatty. I hate the PS1; it's completely uncomfortable. I got used to the N64 controller, but since the Xbox S, it feels awkward. The Xbox Fatty was horrible, and my favorite out of them all is hands-down the Xbox S.

Pretty much any Dualshock... though the Dualshock 3 is probably the best because of the bluetooth wireless and the triggers.

I would actually say the Xbox 360 controller except Microsoft still hasn't figured out how to make a D-pad.

I don't have a favorite. My hands can adapt to any controller very well, and after a litttle while I can feel comfortable with any controller.

Just so everyone knows the best controllers were NES and SNES pads always has been, they are light and they were basic perfect. Gamecube control was good felt comfortable but mine broke and I had to buy one of those damn Wii version ones...its crap, has about 20 things wrong with it.

The 360 one. It could use a better dpad, but everything else is gold. The sticks are shaped right, the right length, and have the perfect amount of tension. The triggers are shaped well and have a good spring to them, making them very satisfying to use for racing games (the Dual Shock 3 could take some lessons from it). And the overall shape is perfect for my hands - the prongs are big enough to be comfortable but not too big to make the whole thing hard to handle.

I really like the PS3 Sixaxis controller. It feels sturdy, has a good weight. (I don't like a controller being extremely light or extremely heavy.) It also feels great in your hands and the 2 analog sticks feel natural.

Remember the early 360 controllers? Those had a flawed d-pad: many specimens, when pushing left on it, wouldn't respond once every three tries. Consider yourself lucky >.>

mine is the gcn wavebird. it fit perfectly in my hands. the face button were placed and sixed perfectly, allowing me to easily hit multiple buttons at once (great in metroid prime). the left joystick is pretty much perfect. it has a great thumbgrip and offers just enough resistance. i realise it may not be the best for fps's, but it was built solely for nintendo games (like nintendo tends to do with its controllers) and handles those just right.

Not sure which one is my favorite, though The Wii-mote is very comfortable, but the gmaecube controller had the best face buttons by far (the ABXY buttons). You could never forget where those buttons are. The shape of them made all the difference. So intuitive.

The Gamecube pad was just great. I like having distinct grips that you can put your fingers right around, which is also why I like the DS2 and not so much the 360 pad.

PS3 control needs new analoge sticks and needs one of said sticks to be moved where the D-pad currently resides. And i agree with you on the gamecube controls even in the L and R buttons are somewhat annoying to press.

Best controllers: 1. Xbox 360 controller 2.Xbox 1's second controller (the skinnier controller) 3.Gamecube official controller Worst controllers: 1.Arcade machines (sorry I am terrible at using them) 2.Any Madcatz controller (always breaks whenever I used to buy them) 3. PS controller (All of them, the thumbsticks are in a weird position in my opinion)

There's my favorite control setup, by Razer. I can program all the mouse buttons to emulate a keystroke or what have you. In retrospect, it was probably a waste of money, since all I play on PC is the occasional strategy title.

As far as controllers, I guess I like the 360 controller. The only other controller I've really used is the one with the original Xbox, and I think the 360 one is better.

It's a good mouse. God knows I need a $70 gaming mouse to play Total War, Europa Universalis, and Neverwinter Nights. :) Really though, it's responsive over a wide array of surfaces, and I like those two extra buttons by the scroll wheel. I set mine to copy and paste, as I find myself doing that quite a bit in my daily business.

Dualshock 3 is my favorite. 360's controller would take the cake if it wasn't for the awful D-Pad.
