I have lot of games which have become rare over the years, although only few of them were really hard to find during it's original release time.

For example Bakuretsu Muteki Bangaioh for the N64. Only 10,000 copies were ever made, but I actually ordered the game from an online shop in the US and it wasn't on back order or anything. I didn't even knew the game had that few presses until much later.

The rarest game I own is Ar Tonelico: Melody of Elemia because the European edition of the game was only released in both Italy and France. Being a big GUST fan I went to great lengths to get my hands on it and haven't regretted it since.

With it also being classed as unreleased in most European countries it's quite the find for those who like 2D RPG's. :)

I don't know for sure, either my copy of Garou Mark of the Wolves on Neo, or a complete copy of Chrono Trigger (not nearly as rare as motw but it has much higher demand, so I don't know the price). Though probably my rarest game is some random game nobody knows or cares about, and isn't worth a dime :P.

Not sure. I guess Mega Man X3 for SNES. Or Lunar: Silver Star for Sega CD. I have Marvel vs Capcom 2 on PS2. Not sure if these are that rare but when I see them I notice they cost a decent amount.

Well, these games aren't too rare, but whatever....

- Suikoden 2 - PSone (complete & mint) - just bought

- Ico - PS2 (factory sealed) - have had for a few years, just haven't gotten around to playing it yet.

- Breath of Fire IV - PSone (complete & mint) - just bought

I have a ton more that may be considered "rare", but these are the ones that come to mind. If you want to see the rest of my collection, just use the Backloggery link in my signature.

I guess my copy of the original Persona for the PSP. The case has a slight crack on it and the manual is in below average condition (although complete and stapled together), but the discs are cool enough.

Yea it's really rare and costly, i never even heard of it before untill last year, so i was determined to get one, at a huge setback in the finacial department xD, one actually sold on ebay a week ago for £500 used: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260598740316&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Kinda think mine would bring much, much more being unopened and all :)

I've got plenty of old games on the NES, SNES and Genesis that I'm sure are rare today. NBA Jam, Castlevania, Sonic Spinball, RBI Baseball, Lion King.

But I have Tales of the Abyss for my PS2 and I've heard that game is extremely hard to find today.

Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart 64, Mario Party 2, Beast Wars Transmetals, Banjo-Tooie, Super Mario 64, and Snowboard Kids.

I also have Digimon Rumble Arena 2 (GCN), Star Wars Jedi Outcast (GCN), and Fatal Frame (PS2)

how do you know the rarity of a game?ohthemanatee

Exactly.

Only some games are actually documented in how many copies were released, the rest is just perception I guess. And I mean it for games that are actually rare, since you can figure out the sales of most hit games by looking at the sales charts. You can have problem finding a game that has over 1 million copies, but that doesn't make it rare really.

Usually it's also assumed that most expensive games have to be rare, and that's why they're expensive in the first place, but this is hardly the case and in reality a lot of expensive games had a good amout of presses.

A good way to check how rare your games are is this website. http://www.digitpress.com/ It actually has a rarity guide for all consoles and games.

As for me, my rarest games are Megaman x3 and Earthbound. Which aren't that rare.

The European PAL version of Panzer Dragoon Saga for the Sega Saturn.

I've also got the PAL version of Burning Rangers for the Saturn , also very rare, but I think its a bit more common then Panzer Saga.

I think the rarest games I have are probably my Atari ST games which includes Double Dragon, OutRun, After Burner and Shadowgate. Other than that I think Chrono Trigger (complete), Knuckles Chaotix PAL version(complete), Banjo Tooie PAL version(complete), San Fransisco Rush 2049 for N64 PAL version(complete), Mega Man Soccer for SNES (cart only) are relatively rare.

Rush 2049 was epic, my no. 1 racer of all time :) - some fantastic games I'd never even considered / heard of, though some of the replys aren't really rare imo like for example: Mario 64 & smash Bros. Other rares games I have are: MGS 3: Subsistance MGS: Twin Snakes Pikmin 2 Super Metroid (Big Box) I suppose theres more but i wouldn't class 'em as rare

Possibly my star ocean 2 for PS1, Legend of Dragoon, Final Fantasy 7, (all PS1) and my tomb raider, and Zelda: A link to the past for Snes. I just know some of these you can't find anymore or so I hear, so I guess they are rare.

According to the site linked (RacketBoy) a couple posts up, these are my rare gems: Gameboy: -Metroid II: The Return of Samus -The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX Edition N64: -Paper Mario Gamecube: -The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess I also did have Nights Into Dreams for the Sega Saturn, but I was very disappointed with it and traded it in after about 2 weeks of owning it. I'm surpised at the results. I have a lot more Sega games than Nintendo games. And I have the most games on a single system on my PS2, and PS1 following close behind. I just happen to really, really like Zelda, Mario, and Metroid games.

The rarest/most obscure game that I own is The Holy Sword: The Ring.

It's a Tactical RPG released for the PC (looks like a Korean port), there's absolutely no information about it on the Internet (besides the stock information) the game doesn't even have torrents/videos/non-stock screenshots of it.

I was lucky enough to buy a new copy of the game (the only copy that I could find on the Internet), but I know there are more left.

I can only post the installation screen because I don't have the box uploaded unto my computer, so here it is:

P.S. I looked on Digitpress and they have nothing on it.
