I don't think graphics are going to drastically improve in the traditional sense by adding more polygons, it'll probably be better lighting and physical properties. Especially games with big guns need walls that don't seem to be made of titanium when it's visually looking like brick!
Though with that, comes major design problem. So it's never that simple. We'll see...
It's not the graphics that are getting too real and that's the bad thing but the games now a days are to violent- don't get me wrong
i like the odd violent game but some are just barbaric.
To me Graphics never get TO real it is just some of the stupid games they put out.
Agreed, i highly doubt graphics can get any better anyway.NintendoJess
When games get photo-realistic, completely immersive and fully interactive. Then you can say that.

Have you played GTA 4 yet? or any next get game, they can all look and run better. Texture are still crap, and so are frame rates. Graphics have a long way to go.
When you go to order a burger at a drive through in the the game, and the person that takes the order has incredibly real looking acne and braces, and spits while talking.
That is where I draw the line.

I'd love to show you this quote in 5 years time and see if you still agree :)
Graphics always improve, even when you think they cant get any better, they do. Sports titles are a brilliant example of this. Each year they release the game, and each year it has the best graphics yet, the most realistic faces etc. etc.
Year-on-year you don't really notice much changing, but when you look at screenshots of versions a few years apart the differences are startling. Pick any sports title you like, and look at say years 1997, 2000, 2004 and 2008.
Just because you think something looks realistic today doesn't mean you will think the same in a few years. It wasn't too long ago that the xbox and ps2 were being raved about because of their realistic graphics. Then the next gen consoles came out with HD graphics and we realise how bad the last gen were.
Seeing some of the cars driving in the Gran Turismo 5 video trailer 6 months ago was the first time I have seen game footage and for a split second unsure if it is game footage, or real footage. The background and road gave it away, but the cars were very good.
For people I think we are still a long way off having a game character fool people into believing they are real. We are too familiar with facial expressions and reactions, and anyone that has played around with a face builder in games like Oblivion or Tiger Woods will know that moving a bar slightly changes the face from believable to unnatural.
