If it's monotonous and hard at the same time, there's only so much I can take before swapping disks. I'd come back to it after a while. If it the game is fun on the other hand I could go on for a while regardless of the fact that it's hard. There's a sense of accomplishment you get from finishing a hard game that can't be equalled. :)
First of all I don't play games known for their high difficulty like...MegaMan, Ninja Gaiden, Battletoads, Ghosts n Goblins ect.
To me theyre just unfair and Id rather have fun with my games than get angry just because the developers thought limited-health, zero reaction time and a dozen things flying at you at once would be a good challenge. Its not. Its pointless, unfair and Im not trying to prove myself to anyone.
Now usually if I get stuck I'll try and figure something out or if I made a mistake I know its my fault. If Im totally drawing a blank I'll look at a guide. If the fight is really unfair I break out the cheats, but thats really a last resort.
I ussualy loose hope on finishing the game when i first see a very hard boss. Then i try to beat it like 20 times and start playing another game while forgetting about the hard one.For example i gave up on DMC3 when i saw the part where you have to fight each and every boss of that damn game and i felt so pissed.
Actually, I prefer a challenge. That's why right off the bat, usually I turn up the difficulty to the highest setting. It expands the game time of your cartridge considerably. There are certain exceptions to this rule: Contra, Super C, Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania and the like. If it's freaking hard right off the bat, then there is no need to turn up the difficulty.
I even finished DRIV3R which is VERY hard towards the end because you have to do everything perfectly... and I love that game :P.Ashley_wwe
Eh, Driv3r wasn't that hard, I beat it years ago. Try beating the final mission of Driver 1. Now THAT's insanely hard. :x
Well, no matter how much I rage, if I like the game, I'll usually keep on trying.
It also depends on the game genre if its RPG from Atlus(wich makes hard rpgs D:) then i keep trying untill i fall asleep right in the couch. And if its just some random Fps game like Call Of Duty and i die 20 times on veteran in one spot i just give up and find something more important to do :P
