when do you think in-game AI will pass preschool?

i keep on playing games, find myself enjoying them... then i shoot someone in the head and his buddy goes "is someone there?"

i thought a current game like dues ex would atleast have some updated AI.

nope, just as dumb as the idiots ive been killin since forever ago. and even the most well respected AI in any given game is still a short bus seat warmer.

i really cant wait for a guy to see his buddy get shot, check where he go shot, then decide to take cover accordingly (instead of just whipping out his sword and standing there till he gets shot too, and im looking at you skyrim)

I agree, graphics keep getting better and better... The AI... continues the same stupid AI. It's so funny in a shooter where the enemies start getting shot. What they do? They start running in your direction!

When game developers start placing some emphasis on it. I've played a few games where the AI reacted in a believable way, so it's not a limitation of the technology. It's just not a priority to the people who do the programming. It really takes away any immersion you might have and makes it into "just a video game".

AI isnt limited by hardware. Some of the best AI has been on game from the last generation. The issues has always been one of implementation. We don't know a way to actually make good AI.

KZ3 has the best AI as far as i have seen. Bot mode can be pretty tough on harder difficulties.

Never. They do not need to be like that just able to simulate some human action.
