When do you feel it's finally time to put down the controller or shutdown/log out? Are you aware how many hours you clock in front of your television or PC? Do you believe you spend a healthy or unhealthy amount of time playing video games? Sometime I feel as though I play too much Bad Company 2.

I have the most playing time by far out of my friends clocking a whopping 138 hours of playtime. I had complained to a player who I had out done high on the scoreboard when his team beat mine by spawn camping. They told me to friend request them (too prove to me of all people) how good they are and to my surprise their playing time totaled over 900 hours. I wasn't even sure how to respond, I had become completely indifferent to the situation.

What red flags take you out of the game?

I don't play for the win anymore. I mostly play just to relax with friends after a hard day. Now each person defines how much he wants to play. Sometimes I don't feel like playing anything, other times I just can't wait to sit in front of the monitor. I don't hold myself accountable on how much time I spend playing as long as this doesn't interfere with other activities of mine.

I bought Black Ops pre-ordered and I have something like 120 hours put into it... last time I remember checking my Lifetime challenges, it was around 118 and I'm pretty sure I played it for a while after that. I don't boost, and I've been playing other games a lot, also. I was playing Red Dead Redemption and got to the second legendary rank, and have a sheriff's badge. I've also been playing Dead Space, I passed it on Easy once and Hard twice, now I'm at the beginning of round 3 on hard, and I just passed the first level on Impossible to beat it on impossible and get the Epic Tier 3 Engineer achievement... I've been playing a huge amount of video games, but I figure I'll probably get tired of it eventually. But right now I'm on prestige level 4 - around level 25 on Black Ops, and I haven't boosted - I've earned my score and everything legitimately, so I have to keep playing to try to get my prestige up real high. I want to get the special face paints without boosting, and maybe someday I'll get the gold weapons...

Now I'm pre-ordering Mortal Kombat, and I'll be playing that a lot... but I'm sure it won't last forever because I'll get worn out.

Usually I'll just play until I feel like doing something else, like reading. Playing video games is kind of an off-time for me, but I do definitely get tired of it after so many hours, and have to find something else to do.

Mortal Kombat's going to be a big game for me. I played the original on SNES and Genesis, and MK 2 on SNES (maybe Genesis). I don't remember owning MK 2, but I rented it. And I remember playing MK 3. I didn't play any others, including MK vs. DC or any of the later ones, but this new one is going to be a very good game, I'm sure. I'm going to have to play through with everyone on single-player and try to get every achievement and practice a lot and try to win online.

I forgot to mention that I also have around 13,500 gamerscore.

Between Dead Space and Mortal Kombat alone, I should be able to get up to 14,500 not too long from now, and I of course plan on buying quite a few games, still. I have to take a break from buying games sometimes to try to finish up the achievements and things that I want to get done with some of them.

Also, I started a new account when I first got Xbox Live, which wasn't a very long time ago. I never used Xbox Live for quite a while after I first bought the 360 and when I started using it I got rid of my old account and started over completely. I didn't have too much gamerscore, really, and I haven't gotten some of it back. I had every achievement for Oblivion and Shivering Isles, but I got rid of them and started over brand new.

I think I play video games too much, sort of, but I'm sure I'll quit eventually. But not with Mortal Kombat coming out and Dead Space 2 and other games being out and maybe Brink if it's as good as it seems like it might be.

I game under a simple system.

Friends and family > life obligations > gaming.

If I have free time and don't have anything to get done that's higher priority, then I game, regardless of the amount of time I've played. Some weeks it's only a few hours per week, others it's as high as 30+ hours per week.

The only significant point is not letting gaming come before the more important parts of your life, and to use it to pass time/relax/enjoy a challenge/whatever other reason you may game.

I give up when im physically tired. Ive been known to game for up to 48+ hours. When im gaming all other responsibilities take a back seat.

I wish I could play more. Like, the thought of finally getting to kick back and play with my buddies 'til I pass out is getting me through the final stretch of my semester.

Even then, I guess some people really like the game and never get tired of it. I think I have 30-50 hours in BC2, and that's being generous. I enjoy playing with friends, but that''s it. Even then, after the 5th session, we were ready to play something else. Some people totally get different things out of the game, as well. As soon as I unlocked the M16A2 in BC2, I was just about done with the game.

i generally finish whatever work i have for the day and then pick up a game for my free time. i dont really have any specific line where i stop playing. i might get bored, do something with friends, or just get tired (although for some games thats less of a deterrent).

I'll stop if I'm either tired or bored of it. Must be really tired though.

That's about where my gaming habit is at. Recently I've had a lot of time on my hands and have racked up a lot of time playing the game and it's been weeks where I don't so much as turn on my 360. That's just the way it's been, I never really put any thought into it until making this topic.

That's true, the games my friends and I play we only really play when we're together. Bad Company 2 is the only game I can tolerate playing alone and even then not for long at all.

Not got that much time on my hands, but I rememeber playing LMA manager on the Amiga 500, me and a mate played it for 3 days in a row, just napping in the witching hours. No health warnings back then & I'm alright........twitch twitch.......

My life is very busy, so I don't get a whole ton of time to play games. I miss the days when I could play for hours without having to worry :(
