I can't find any good vampire games except for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. I heard many people saying that Legacy Of Kain series is nice, but it looks a bit too cheesy for me.

I wonder why is there such a lack of good vampire games, or rather vampire games at all :?

I'm still trying to get Vampire: Bloodlines working. I've tried to ask for help on GameSpot's Bloodlines forums but no one seems to be interested there. I could just as well ask here too. Sorry for the off topic.

Every time I try to open the game, it crashes after the Troika video on startup. What could be causing it?

I have the Steam version of the game with the newest 4.5 unofficial patch, 64-bit Vista, E6600, 8800 GTS and 2Gb ram.

This one actualy fix bugs, instead of adding more. Other than that, i can't imagine what coud be wrong :?

I would like to see more vampires games, but I dunno if the devs have the necessary qualities to pull that off.

Vampires, as eternal creatures, are complex and ideals for deep stories and developped gameplays. The complexity become is exponential with the size of the game. I think CCP are making a Vampires MMO, but...I will believe it the day I see it...I am also afraid they redo EvE mistakes, especially concerning PvP enforcement.

I don't know who the Steam version worked, was it already prepatched with the Official patch before you did the Unofficial one.

Also, since you're using Vista, did you try to run it in XP compatibility?

You might also want to try the Planet Vampire forums for answers...since they are the most active forums dedicated to Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines on the web, In fact, I think that's were all the unofficial patch releases get posted first.

I don't know if it's related to your problem, but for one user doing a file search for "mss32.dll" and deleting it if it's in a windows folder worked for them......it would make sense since it might be a video codec conflict.

On Bloodlines: in Vista you need to run in in XP SP 2 compatability mode (checkbox) as an Administrator (checkbox) and you're set. Revisited it lately and had to fiddle with these settings to get it to launch.

I would definitely like to see more games like Bloodlines. I'm hoping Troika decides to do a spiritual successor in White Wolf's Requiem continuity of its World of Darkness series. As much as I love Masquerade, I think Requiem removes all the bloated content.

id like to see another vampire game but a gta style wouldnt work because theres mass effect and prototype is coming out so the devs need to think of something different, mayby a stealth game...

I dont know for a fact but i think there's a vampire in F.E.A.R....

I'm surprised nobody mentioned it, try some games in the Castlevania series.

Troika went under a little while after Masquerade came out so there's no way they'll be able to do a sequel. But I do second the notion that there should be more games based on the the PnP RPG.

Anyways you can also try Morrowind seeing as it has a pretty decent Vampire portion depending on what clan you let infect you.

well first of all do not forget the first game in the masquerade series, redemption. it is a fantastic game, very similar to bloodlines of course. it also won't take much to run it.

bloodlines is freaking great, im working on it now. you say that legacy of kain looks too cheesy, but the first one is very dark and masterfully done, although the load times on the ps2 were horrendous.. pc version might be a lot better.

other than that there are sadly not many other vampire games worth playing. morrowind had some good vampire stuff, and im sure there are community mods that can add on to it.
