I was looking through a pile of discs I had and I found the original Sly Cooper for PS2 and remembered how fun that game was. It also made me start wondering, what ever happened to that franchise? It used to be one of Sony's top exclusives and it hasn't been on either the PSP or PS3 yet. Has Sucker Punch only been working on inFamous for the past 4 years? I think it's time for Sly 4 and/or Sly PSP.

I so wish that we could get a Sly 4 on PS3 - that alone would be enough reason for me to buy the console. Easily one of my most favorite video game series of all time.

I miss Sly as well. I wish Naughty Dog could alternate releases like Insomniac and Ratchet and Clank/Resistance.

Hard to say. As far as I know, there was never a given reason for it's absence, nor has there been any signs of it coming back. Rather odd considering how well received the series was.

Naughty Dog wasn't responsible for the Sly series -- Sucker Punch was.

Could be money that is part of the problem. How well did the games sell? They may have been good, but a company has to pay the bills somehow.

Quite well, actually - the original topped a million units sold, and the third sold around 650,000. Can't find figures for the second, but I imagine it was probably somewhere in the middle.

Given how ambitious inFAMOUS was (it was made by the same guys), I can't imagine that they're strapped for cash - they probably just want a break, since their three games prior to that were all Sly Cooper all the time.

Hmm, I don't know then. That is a bit odd that they would dump a good selling series, but yeah, maybe they wanted to make other games like you said. I think we'll see a new Sly eventually then.
