amazon/ebay is good for better games... like mario allstar for snes on amazon/ebay would be like 20$
and if i whent to the swap meet/flee market(watever you call it) they charge 40-60$:o
so if its a lesser known game i just go to the swap meet...
GameXchange for retro games if Im out and about and Ebay for games of yesterday if Im down for the count... :P

I got most of mine when they were current. I guess online stores like ebay or whatever would be good if you want them these days for pretty decent prices (if you shop around).
eBay most of the time. I found several great NES games at a local store that sold everything from atari to PS3, but they recently went out of business.
I did find 2 N64 systems in great condition at the local goodwill store. One was bare, the other had 2 controllers, all wires, and the ram expansion.
Pawn shops, yard sales, a local store, and Ebay if I really want something. Never from Gamestop. They charge like a 500% mark up on those used PS2 games.billyd5301You should really check them out again, then. 80% of their used PS2 games are in the $9.99 and under bin. There's also a $2.99 bin for PS2 games, as well. I just picked up Twisted Metal Black, GTA Vice City, and Timesplitters for $2.99 a piece. You can't beat that.
Since one of my friends gave me his spare SNES as a Christmas gift and there's no other place that I can find old games, I usually check out the electronics aisle of Half-Price Books, which is a gold mine of retro games that people have traded in.
For SNES/NES/Gameboy/Sega Genesis I get them at a place on my university campus that sells old games.
For PS1games I go to this store downtown not far from my house.
I dont believe in online shopping so I go to swap meets, pawn shops, Goodwill/Salvation Army stores, garage/yard sales, flea markets, little stores where they sell anything. I like to run around trying to find hidden gems here and there. I have found a some pretty amazing stuff for cheap.
I go to Half-Price Books too. I buy most of mine on Ebay, try to get them in lots mainly cause the shipping adds up, then just hoard/sell the duplicates. Also I sometimes make deals online over at AtariAge.com it's a pretty good community so no one really rips eachother off.
I usually go to independent stores. They have a huge selection of retro games and they are priced dirt cheap. I never buy retro games from gamestop, seeing that they often have no retro games at all.
I get nearly everything from a shop called Virtual Games. I mainly get Game Boy games there, although they do have a good range of Mega Drive titles(sometimes).
I used to get the majority of my old games from EB Games but lately, at least where I live, the stores seem to have zero standards in terms of what old games they'll take in from people and most of the discs are scratched or worse, have parts of the label missing. Pawn shops have better quality games now and if I don't find something there, it's ebay.
If you ever buy a game from EB Games, make sure you see the disc before they quickly put in the case and don't hesitate to hold it up to the light to see if you can see through a hole or holes in the label.
I buy mine at the toy vault or flea market. I used to buy off ebay, but i got a genesis w/ broken ctrl ports and the seller had 100% positive feedback & said it worked perfectly.....@$$.
There's a local store near me called Game Force that has a lot of old SNES, Genesis, N64, and PS1 games at decent prices. Other than that, flea markets. I have yet to buy a retro game online yet...
