I've always wondered where people get all the money for their games. I recently bought Heavenly Sword and Warhawk but only reason I could afford that was because of money I recieved from doing well in my exams!! I do get pocket money but its hardly enough to let me get every game I want.

With all the upcoming games, plus the HD tv I want for my room (only got one in the downstairs living room which I don;t get to use whenver I want) and a new guitar needed I thought I'd better get a job to pay for this. I finally got one last week (with a decent wage!) but ironically this gives me hardly any time to use the things I spend the wage on as with school and the job I'm only really free on weekends, leaving at 8.30 in the morning and coming in at 10 at night!! I'm gonna hold out for the 6 months I've got the job for though to come out the end with enough money for games in the upcoming few years!

Anyway, I was wondering where people here get the money for their games. Do many have jobs? Do people get given as much money as they want off their parents? Do parents just buy games for their kids whenever they want? Can you only afford games when money is given from special occasions? CAn you only afford a few games a year?

Whatever your answer is, write it here!

It's this really amazing thing, called a job. You do something, and somebody pays you for it

Well, I buy Xbox games for around $7, so I can usually scrape a couple bucks together to buy one or two every other month. Christmas and birthdays are the primary source. However, occasionally I get a twenty when I go home from college, so with no expenses at college, I'm in the clear to use the money for games.

Shhhh.

Well i left school in february before my final exams in May (it was my last year in school) not because i was lazy, but because i just couldn't care anymore about schooling. So i have actually done sweet **** all since then, applied for a couple of jobs and went to some interviews and was successful in one of them to the point they offered me the job then and there. But it was at a call centre and i turned it down mainly because i didn't want the job, i just wanted to see could i get it. Strange i know but the job was really too far from where i live and the hours were awefull.

Anyway i'm babbling here, i basically fund my gaming habit through the £40 i get from my grandparents per month and economising. Doing stuff like instead of buying the expensive brands of food or beer etc i'll go for the cheapest of the cheap lol. Instead of going to the pub every weekend with my mates i'll stay in or just go out and have a softdrink instead of alcohol. The worst thing though is trying NOT to buy cigarettes and save my money for something, so far i've failed at doing this lol.

But basically i fund my gaming habit through just watching my money, i do hear getting a job results in you getting paid every month aswell. I think you can buy a job from eBay for £0.99? its where most people buy their gaming skills :P

Ya, a job really helps. Not relying on your parents for money gives you a wonderful feeling. And I wonder sometimes how people can afford a high end computer, 3 HDTVs in their house, and all 3 current gen consoles....then I realized some people have higher paying jobs than me. :D

i work hard at school and i get the game i want from my parents as a reward... instead of receiving money i just ask for the game i want right way, since the only thing i mostly spend my money on is games, besides food and other natural needs of course...

Wash cars, chores, cut grass. That's where most of my money comes from. I don't have a job because I don't have enough time for a job with the 3 AP classes I'm taking this year.

I get $20 a week for just doing simple things like washing my dad and mom's car and other things like setting the table. Plus there's pocket change which I get every so often. For example, I go do an errand for my mom and she gives me $5. I used $2.40 on what she wanted me to buy and she just lets me keep the rest. It's not a lot, but it does add up.

I also use a lot of coupons, sell old games I don't like and don't buy games at a $60 pricetag. $60 is a rip-off considering in 3 months you can get the same game for $30. Games like Halo 3 and other awesome ones are exceptions ;). Last, but not least I sell my video games that I don't play. Why have them around just collecting dust?

Tutoring is also a fun way to make money. I tutor after school for $10 an hour or more if the parents of the kid I tutor like me. And it's a school job thingy, not just someone coming up to me and asking.

I get weekly allowance for doing chores around the house, and I also get some monthly cash delivering my local newspaper to old people.

I'm able to maintain my gaming habit with the help of a bi-weekly paycheck from my minimum wage POS job and any kind of money I get from my parents for grades or stuff.

And I sell crack.

But not really.

Unfortunately, I never got a weekly allowance. Although I did help my dad on some jobs here and there for people that gave me some money.
