For me, it's a tie between the Gamecube (Wario World, Super Mario Sunshine, Sonic Adventure remakes). the PS1 (Klonoa 1, Croc, Spryo classic series, Crash Bandicoot classic series) and the SNES (DinoCity, Super Mario World 2, Super Mario All-Stars+, Donkey Kong Country). The GBA is my favorite system for platformers (Sonic Advance series, Super Mario Advance series, Klonoa GBA series, Spyro GBA series, Crash Bandicoot GBA series), but since you asked for console, I'll leave it on it's own.

That's a tough call, the 64, SNES, GC, and PS2 had a ton of great platformers. But if I only could choose one I'd probably pick the 64 for Banjo and Kazooie.

N64 without a doubt. Super Mario 64, DK 64 and the best of them all, Banjo Tooie.

actually all but 1 nintendo console fills this question,

nes , thats where they had to start

snes more nes like games but better visuals

n64 the start of 3d platformers,

wii has every base covered, nes snes gc wii it self, mario galaxy any one if you like classic and modern super paper mario fits the bill, any way you go youll find platformers on this system, from mario to petz dogz 2 , lots of platform game id say ps1 would be next in line along with genesis, the worst system would be xbox for platformers, even with rare, lets just say rare lost its talent to a rumored to be closed down free radical ,

Without a doubt, the NES had the best platformers. From Mario to Mega Man to Adventure Island to the countless HKO Sonic games, there was no shortage of competent and fun platform games.

its either nes or snes, at those times platformers were like FPS this generation, pick anything and make it platform title now pick anything and make it fps title Even though I might have liked platformers on N64 more(mario and banjo) yet snes and nes surely beats it

For 2D platformers, it's a toss up between NES and SNES.

For 3D platformers, it's the PS2 hands down.

Who needs anything more than Donkey Kong Country series and the Mario games?

I think the SNES had the best platform games, with the Genesis, Playstation, Playstation 2, Nintendo 64, and NES being runners-up.

yep. and the genesis was very similar to the snes. and n64 definately did better at 3d platformers than the ps1, 3do, and saturn.

N64 followed by SNES. The N64 had so many quality platformers like Mario 64, Banjo Tooie, Banjo Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64, etc.

I gave up on platformers shortly after the release of the PS2. I've only recently got into them again. I can't name too many great platformers for the 3D era other than the original Crash Bandicoot trilogy, Abe's Oddesy, Mario 64, Klonoa, Pandemonium 1 & 2 and the first Spyro the Dragon games.

Yes, you do. Not everyone loves those games. Though, of the games you mentioned, Conker's Bad Fur Day was decent.

Rayman 1 & 2 were multiplatform games. Also... Castlevania...? As in, Castlevania 64, the worst game in the series? Symphony of the Night was here, Castlevania 64 is a loser.

genesis hands down, when I think of snes I think of mario and atleast I can come up with 5 other titles on genesis.
