Consoles like the PSX, SNES, PS2, GBA and much more are said to have the best libraries ever... Which console, according to you, has the best gaming library ever?

Probably the PS2 just because of the sheer amount of games it has. Tons of games to choose from all kinds of genres.

My personal opinion is SNES > PS1 > PS2 > NES, this is based off the amount of enjoyment I've had with each console and the amount of games I have for each one too.

Yeah PS1, and PS2 have the greatest selection of RPG's. Plus, they also have the best selection of Survival Horror games. My two fave genres.

I can't really comment on the PS2, but otherwise... N64 > GBA > PSX = SNES That is for playing through the games TODAY, taking into account remakes and such. The PSX has too many crappy translations and dubs. The SNES is great but I've done the old school RPG thing to death... and I just don't think a lot of them hold up to modern counterparts. GBA has a lot of nice and unique stuff, plus some good remakes. N64 wins out because of two timeless classics: LoZ: OoT and LoZ: MM, also greatly aided by Mario 64. Without those, it would be at the bottom.

NES with the SNES in close second. I miss the NES, which is why I bought the Wii.

The GBA and the PS2, f it comes to quantity. But no console's library approaches the awesomeness that is the N64 as far as quality is concerned

Since this is really only an opinion thing,I will have to say SNES and PS2. I personaly felt that though sega had some unique games that blew away SNES games, and a better Mature policy, the SNES just had a better consistency of titles to choose,so it slightly edges out the genesis. In my mind the SNES/Genesis era was the golden age of gaming. And the PS2 second, that thing just wont die and its huge library keeps growing even now,and its amazing teh amount of quality titles you can find in that massive library.

I say it's a tie between these three

-PS1 (or whatever you call it) - this console saw the birth of some great franchises, amazingly great games specially a good amount of rpgs, just taking a look at it's library makes you want to smile.

-PS2 - the same can be said about the ps2 plus better graphics =D

-SNES - an overwhelming quantity of awesome games (like really too many) the very best for oldschool gaming.

To me

Saturn: Fighting games.
NES and Genesis: Platformers/action adventure, etc...

Coming up with just one console it's almost impossible, since so many great games are spread all over different systems.

But overall: I think the Genesis, SNES and PS2 have pretty much almost everything one needs.

3) NES

4) N64

5) PS2

Apples and oranges to me because you can't compare systems that didn't come out at the same time. I'll take them all.

My guess would be the PS2, as it can play PS1 and PS2 games.

Next would be the SNES, just because of all its classic old school games.

Personally I don't think anything comes close to eclipsing the PS2's catalog in terms of quality and quantity.

The playstation 2 is the easy answer. I'll take the Super Nintendo for per capita great game library.

For me the console with the best gaming library would be the Neo Geo AES. I just love the games on that thing.

PS1...PS2... I don't know. PS1 had: Metal Gear Solid, VR Missions Resident Evil 1/Directors Cut, 2, 3 and Survivor Tomb Raider 1, 2, 3, The Last Revelation and Chronicles Crash Bandicoot 1, 2: Cortex Strikes Back and 3: Warped Grand Theft Auto, London (Expansion Pack), 2 Medal Of Honor, Underground WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game, In Your House, Warzone, Attitude, SmackDown!, SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role WCW Mayhem, Vs. The World, WCW/nWo Thunder ECW Hardcore Revolution, Anarchy Rulz Destruction Derby Vigilante 8 Theme Park, Hospital Oddworld: Abe's Oddysey, Abe's Exoddus Doom, 2, Final Doom The list goes on... PS2 has equally as many great games... but the PS1 has a lot of memorable games, mainly Resident Evil 2, Metal Gear Solid and Tomb Raider 1 AND 2 for example... I think it may have to be the PS1.
