this generation was dominated by too much GTAs' which I strongly oppose,I don't know anything much other than San Andreas and IV(before I retired playing the series, these 2 were the best of the bunch)
@Smashbrossive50: "This generation was dominated by too many GTAs" What are you talking about there's only GTA4 and GTA5 for this generation. As opposed to series like AC(it has 6 this gen I think )

I don't know what you mean dominated. But COD was way more dominant than GTA because it came out each year. GTA IV and GTA V had a few years between them and there were only 2 this gen

Five year difference by my count. I think what @Smashbrossive50 meant where there were a few copycats. Saints Row thru Saints Row IV have been a sucker punch to the Grand Theft Auto and Rockstar label this entire generation. Then you have Red Dead Redemption which was a western GTA thru-and-thru. So by my count that's seven games in eight years, is it? That's quite a few to be sure, but there again Call of Duty has also flown this banner all generation long, and Assassins Creed is beginning to do the same.

Saints Row 3 and 4 are totally different animals than GTA. Open world games are different in the story and settings. If you have that mentality you can do it with all genre's Sport, Racing, FPS, RPG's TPS, JRPG's Platform games, etc. You can't just base it off one or two games on genre and then include everything else
in my extent, why would we all got too much expectation for Open-World?I'm sure that's the most plagiated genre imo
there's more to why I dislike open-world now, look at them platformers, they received less attention than open-world,and it says that platformers is for kids...who says that? here,in my country, people aged about 13-40 years older than me can still enjoy what's the best of it,my key to gaming is "not much violence for a better gaming life"
No series "rules them all"
However the most consistently great, long running series is probably Mario. That's the closest I think any series comes to ruling them all
P.S. that poll has really lame options BTW
This is clearly a trick question. The answer is obviously Uncharted but you did not use it as an option in the poll.
You slippery willy you, I am on to you... that didn't sound right.
No Zelda, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Final Fantasy? Non on the list are really super great but from the list i'll choose gta, starcraft, and ratchet and clank.
Zelda is my all time favorite series. Yes, I even enjoyed the DS games to varying degrees.
Runners ups are Dragon Quest, Souls (just Dark Souls, highly anticipating 2) and others I don't care enough to list right now.
How did you manage to make a best videogame series poll that didn't contain a single Nintendo franchise?
I mean, besides the obvious answer that you're just trolling.
Definitely Grand Theft Auto (GTA), the series may have hit a small bump in the road with GTA IV and it's decorative planes but GTA V has to be the best game ever made (that i've played anyway).
Looking at the sales, Call of Duty rules all. Love it or hate it, the franchise is a juggernaut. GTA and Mario are next in line.
You forgot Metal Gear Solid...
Don't feel bad, he literally forgot to put every single one of the biggest franchises in his poll
-Street Fighter
-Mario
-Zelda
-Metroid
-Final Fantasy
-Elder Scrolls
-Fall Out
-Metal Gear Solid
-Pokemon
none of those series rule them all.
when it's all said and done, it comes down to:
mass effect
or
fallout
The GTA series if it can maintain it's quality and improves.
Same goes for the Batman Arkhams series (which it didn't do on it's current game). But it might flop later on if they stretch it too long meaninglessly.
AC, well maybe. They need more games like AC 2 and AC 4, and if they can do that, they can definitely keep the series strong for a while.
Out of the games listed, I'll have to go for Grand Theft Auto. Assassin's Creed isn't really all that interesting to me anymore (although I really like the thought of playing as a pirate) and I'm not really such a big fan of the other franchises mentioned.
