Flashback for the Amiga. I enjoyed watching my brother play through the entire game. IK+ for the commodor-64. Wing Commander (again for the Amiga) made quite the impression..
Well the original Everquest had a huge impact on me just because of the amount of time I put into that game. Played for 4 years, and at least 5 hrs per day and more on weekends and vacations.
As far as single player goes I would go with the first Halo. Screw the haters, I loved that campaign. Played it so many times.
Super Castlevania IV is the game id suppose i have the fondest memories of playing. Always was and still am a huge fan of the series, but something about that entry keeps me going back to play through it, even to this day.
After that, id have to list The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
FFVII-made me love RPGS
RE1-I loved everything about the game (I was 10 at the time and I totally spaced out on the crappy dialogue)
MGS1-Prolly the greatest game for its era and way ahead of its time.
Way of the Exploding Fist (Spectrum 48k) - That was the game that made me realize how much I liked games.
IK+ (Commodore 64) - ...and this one was even better than Exploding Fist.
Champions of Krynn/Buck Rogers (Amiga) - Still two of my favourite RPGs.
Secret of the Monkey Island (Amiga) - Suddenly, games could be funny, clever and creatively written.
Street Fighter II (Arcade) - Fighting games are still one of my favourite genres, so this one was a complete revelation/
Sid Meier's Civilization (Amiga, PC) - Probably the most complete strategy game ever.
Pokemon red/blue - I maxed out the games clock on both of my games, and completed the pokedex twice >__>. Also the first social experience i had with video games, i would play the games with my friends during recess.
The Legend of Zelda Links Awakening - IMO the best Zelda game ever, and the only game where [SPOILERS] the ending where he wakes up from the dream did'nt suck
Super Mario World - My first game ever. I remember playing this game for days on end w/o beating the first world ( i was 4 ), but i still had tons of fun.
Mario Kart SNES - The first video game i ever played at my cousins house.
Super Smash Bros N64 - This game kept me busy for so long >__>
Pokemon Silver/Gold - See red/blue :D
Sam and Max hit the road becuase you don't know how much fun clicking a mouse can be.
but i apart of my humour is lik that and Pual Merton the series.
Legend of Kage for NES. Awesome Ninja game like an old chinese action film.
I lived off of Street Fighter II turbo SNES since I was five. Even beet my brothers teenage friends.
Ignition Factor for SNES. Innovative and ahead of its time. Who knew firefighting could be so fun.
Super Mario All Stars of course.
Final Fantasy VII was my first RPG and still my favorite next to Lunar which it overshadowed it at the time due to lack of advertising.
Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, who hasn't these games had an impact on?
and more recently Quake III introduced me to PC gaming along with Everquest Online Adventures for PS introducing me to MMO's
Tomb Raider has also always kept my attention while building my problem solving skills.
Rocket knight adventures...played that game soo much took forever to beat as well.
Banjo Kazooie...although I played that in my teens I still consider that as "gorwing up"
Those 2 games and of course the other classics fueled my love for gaming and technology.
