And when I mean changed, I mean "Holy ..., I've been blessed and shall never be the same ever again"-changed. And as for near destroyed, I'm sure all of us know what that means.

For me, Heroes of Might and Magic 3, Shadow of the Colossus and...Ocarina of time. Planescape came close.

Definitely EverQuest, back in 1999.

It changed my life in that it was practically my shift from console gaming to PC gaming. It also introduced me to the genre of MMORPGs, and I haven't stopped playing MMOs since then. Since the game was played primarily from a first-person perspective, it indirectly got me into playing FPS games as well, such as Half-Life, UT, and a couple of other goodies.

It also nearly destroyed my life, in that my grades in school pretty much started suffering heavily for a while, because the time I was supposed to spend studying and doing homework was instead spent playing EQ. And while my parents threatened to drop the hammer on me, I recovered my good grades in time before punishment became necessary. Now I maintain a healthy balance of MMOs and studying.

I had very poor personal hygeine for the week I played Dragon Warrior 4. Had very poor hygeine and time for other activities while going through (separately) Wild Arms 3, Wild Arms, Wild Arms 2, and Wild Arms: Alter Code F. The Wild Arms series changed how I think about RPGs. I somewhat compare all RPGs to that series now.

Morrowind was recommended to me by a friend, and when I played it, I fell in love with the game. It's basically my benchmark for comparison for RPGs. Perfect World sucked up about 48 hours of my life in a week when I first started playing it. Which was during college. I haven't played it since that week, though.

Countless games have changed my life. To be honest, pretty much every game that featuring inspiring music, a beautiful story and a lasting aftertaste.

Oblivion, that was one summer I will never get back, but I am not sure I want to, Oblivion is my favorite game and Morrowind comes in on a close second.

Without a doubt, World of Warcraft just about ruined my life. I don't know how many hours/days I was logged in, and trust me, I do not want to know. For the better, I always play Ocarina of Time and Link to the Past when I lose my faith in video game companies.

Final Fantasy 7 is easily the most important game for me and didn't necessarily change my life, but changed how I view games.

More recently World of Warcraft ate up a large portion of time, but I wouldn't consider that game life changing I guess.

Bioshock. Most Beautiful game i've probably ever played. Or Doom, for making that "Hell" impression that just scars you.

um i dont think any of my games changed my life. but after playing games like NFS: Most Wanted I tend to drive a little faster and keep my eyes peeled for cops more. and then if i see a cop I'm tempted to just floor it and see if he chases me..... I guess if i was a total moron then I'd act on the impulses and could say racing video games changed/destroyed my life.... LOL

but seriously, I must have wasted nearly a year playing GTA: SA on my ps2 a few years ago. but it didnt really destroy my life, just consumed a ton of time.

Same here. I actually quit playing NFS and other racing games for now because I take my driver's test this coming Thursday. When I was playing NFS, I was driving faster and trying to take racing lines around turns. I kept thinking of how to use the brakes to drift around the turns as well. Not good things to do...

When Grand Turismo 2 came out I was in school and bartending on the weekends. When I would get off of work 2 friends would come over and we would play Turismo and drink Dew all night long. If I got into my car right after playing Turismo I would drive like such a freaking maniac (in my Ford Taurus lol). The moral is don't play racing games and drive.

I think Warcraft III contributed to my divorce.

I rejoice.
