I just wanted to compare the First-Party offerings of the Xbox and Gamecube, the close sales wise competitors of the 6th era of gaming. But Which console had the better first-party? To help, I shall list the FP of both: Gamecube First-Party Games: Luigis Mansion Pikmin Pikmin2 Melee Animal Crossing Mario Party 4,5,6,7 Metroid Prime Metroid Prime 2 Star Fox Adventures Super Mario Sunshine F-Zero GX Kirby Airride Wind Waker (Not counting Twilight Princess since it also came out on Wii.) Mario Golf:Toadstool Wario World Custom Robo Pokemon Colosseum Pokemon XD Four Swords Wario Ware Inc. DK Jungle Beat Battalion Wars Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance StarFox Assault super Mario Strikers Geist XBOX First-Party Games: Amped Amped 2 Halo Halo2 Project Gotham Racing Project Gotham Racing 2 Fuzion Frenzy Azurik: Rise of Perathia Blood Wake NFL Fever 2002 NFL Fever 2003 NFL Fever 2004 Blinx the Time Sweeper Kakuto Chojin: Back Alley Brutal Railsport Challenge 1,2 Quantum Redshift Mech Assault Mech Assault 2 Forza Fable Fable:TLC Whacked Brute Force Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge Links 2004 Grabbed by the Ghoulies Conker: Live and Reloaded NBA Inside Drive 2004 NHL Rivals 2004 Xbox Music Mixer Xbox Exhibition (Demo discs) Volume 1 through 7. Sudeki Night Caster Now these are two really great and strong First-Parties, although in the end I think it's hard to say the Gamecube first-party is superior. The Xbox First-Party had more genre diversity, and went into areas Nintendo did not even bother to go into. But it had more options, Golf, Footbal, Basket Ball, Platfoming, Action Adventure, Racing, Racing Sims, Flight,Wrpgs, Jrpgs, Hack and Slash, Demos, Music Mixer, Action, Arcade, Beat Em Up, Boat Combat, Snowboarding, and there's more to each of them, I forgot a couple on both sides, but this is pretty much the main vision. The Xbox FP to me appeals more, while the Gamecube FP seems to focus more on fan satisfaction. They did throw in some good games, Custom Robo, Animal Crossing, Gesit, Couple Wario Titles, Pikmin, and a change up of the Metroid Series. But the Xbox had more to offer, an every time they would make a sequel to a successful game, they would follow it with 3 new Ips to grab more attention than staying within the same safe area Nintendo did most of the GC FP wise. Although this hurt MS pretty badly, it still helped provide some great games.

I think the cube had more quality games, but I liked more games on that list under the xbox list...just from a quick glance though.

I'm pretty biased on this topic but I really don't think there's any arguing that the Cube had a vastly superior 1st party line up, compared to the PS2 or Xbox.

Gamecube for me. Most of my favorite exclusives on the Xbox weren't first party.

GCN had Metroid Prime 1 and 2, and that alone puts it ahead of the Xbox imo.

Gamecube has Metroid Prime and Wind Waker. It's hard to beat that.

Metroid Primeuber alles

best console game to date I've ever played

I will always keep my GC in good shape so i can always go back and play that Masterpiece and its pretty good successor at any time.

The gamecube has arguably the best first party of any system IMO.

-Metroid Prime 1 and 2

-Pikmin 1 and 2

-The Legend of Zelda the Wind Waker

these are all in masterpiece territory to me

I think it is safe to say that Gamecube wins the first party game territory for the last gen. I have the PS2 and Xbox but none of their first parties really stuck out to me. I didn't even know the PS2 and Xbox had first party games except for Halo on the Xbox. I don't even know if Sony has any first party games.

I think GameCube. I really liked Xbox and as a platform preferred it over GC, but the combination of Metroid Prime, Wind Waker, Mario Sunshine and The Thousand Year Door provides higher quality experiences.

However, on the Xbox I loved Halo and Halo 2, I liked Crimson Skies, Mechassault, PGR and PGR2 and Fable. All great games, but only Halo and Halo 2 really match up to the four titles I mentioned on the GameCube side.

Gotta go with the Cube. By the way, I'd say the Cube had better 1st party games than the PS2 as well.

I gotta say they are about equal. That whole generation--all four consoles of it!--had great first-party games across the board.
