I love the X series and I think it was the foundation of the megaman series after that.

I like the X series the most, although they started getting bad after x4 in my opinion.

Definitely the 8-bit Mega Man games. Hell, fans still debate on which is better between 2 and 3.

X without a doubt. The first was of course the best, but they were all awesome up until 7. I tried to play that and I almost cried it was so bad. Capcom ruined a great game by making it 3d like that. Oh well.

When I get to thinking about megaman I really really love him and wish I could envelope myself in everything megaman but seriously I stopped caring about the games a long time ago. The standard side scrolling games are just a little to difficult for my tastes. They also lack depth. You can collect tanks and armor pieces but thats about it your beams and special attacks never get any stronger. Battlenetwork was pretty decent but it also lacks depth. I think MM has to focus on FPS style like Megaman Legends 1-2 and then it would become as awesome as Metroid Prime. Oh well like I said I freaking love megaman but they are just to difficult to have fun with and have a serious lack of replay value and depth.

A cross between Classic and X (specifically SNES X series). The reason I say that is, the NES series was very good, but each game didn't offer much of a varity, it was basically the same thing, as later in the X series, you were able to do more and it wasn't repetitive. So I think I have to say X wins the vote for me.

It's nice to see so many vote for MMX.

The Mega Man X series is easily the best. It took everything I loved about classic Mega Man from when I was really young and revamped it. The graphics, characters, and story are all really interesting. The music is another aspect that X has over classic MM. One of the absolute best pieces of music ever in a video game is Zero's Theme from the SNES version of MMX3.

I've actually enjoyed all of the MMX games, even more than the classic ones. As much as I'd love to see Mega Man X9, I'd love to see Capcom make MMX: Command Mission 2. Command Mission is a better RPG style MM game than Legends is. The story, characters, and gameplay are all really good. I'd do almost anything for a sequel to it.

I can't choose a favourite series, but a favourite game. Megaman 64 is definitly the best IMO. I rented that dozens of times in my N64 glory days.

Mega Man 2 is a fantastic game.

But the first Mega Man X is probably my favorite platformer of all time.

Definitely the original and classic Mega Man. While the later ones toward the end of the NES era weren't great, they weren't terrible at all as opposed the later versions of the X series. Especially when they decided to make the X series semi 3D. That just killed the whole thing for me.

Considering when these were all posted, it looks like I am a bit late, but oh well. I loved the Battle Network series, especially 3, mainly because it felt like the most story driven Megaman. I believe Star Force is like that as well. But, my very first Megaman game was Megaman X5. On the other hand, Legends kept me up plenty of late nights. It is so hard to decide, but I believe that the Battle Network series is the best.

I was a huge fan of the original NES series, finished 1-3 time and again.

Subsequent attempts to replay them as an adult have shown me that I was considerably more hardcore as a kid.

Personally, I LOVED the first few games in the X series, but it fell apart very quickly. I also loved the Legends or "Dash" series, but there were only two in that one.

The best one, then, has to be the classic series. Mega Man 2 and 3 were fantastic, and if the worst things you can say about 4-6 is that they were just like MM3, then you're doing okay. :) Mega Man 7 and 8 were horrible, however, but it still fares better than the X series, which was gawdawful by the time we got to X5.

I'm gonna have to give it to the classic NES Mega Man games. Mega Man 2 was my first video game that I owned, I got it when I was 4 years old and still play it from time to time to this day. Mega Man X was amazing, X2-X4 were pretty good, but everything after was pretty much garbage. I also really enjoyed Mega Man Legends.
