I have seen there is plenty available for the PS2 but I am not sure of their quality and I don't know if maybe the dreamcast had better ports of the arcade classics. I remember playing some on the Saturn that were close to the arcade versions of the time.

Considering the lightguns that each system use and the titles available which system would be best for lightgun games?

It all depends on which games you prefer. PS1 has Time Crisis and Area 51. Saturn has Virtua Cop 1 & 2 and House of the Dead, and Area 51 Dreamcast has House of the Dead 2, and an exact port of the Saturn version of Virtua Cop 2. PS2 has House of the Dead III, Time Crisis 2 & 3, and Resident Evil: Dead Aim 1 & 2. But the gun is for PS2 is a bit pricier than the others. I'm sure there's more light-gun releases on each system, those are just the well-known ones. -Nate-

I like the Virtua Cop and Time Crisis Games but wasn't sure if there is some great ones that didn't make it to arcades that are worth checking out. I don't mind the cost of the guns If I only have to buy one but It would be good to have two for co op.

These games do make me wan't to look into PS2. I wasn't aware there was a Virtua Cop on the sony system. This way I can play some Virtua Cop and Time Crisis while keeping an eye for something else like the Keisatsukan game you mentioned. I just watched a video of it and it looked pretty good.

That's because there isn't a Virtua Cop game on PS2. It was announced, but never released. Maybe there's some bootleg out there that made it out, I don't know, but there's no official release.

Sounds like the PS2 is the light gun console of choice for you:

-Not only does the PS2 have the most light gun shooters that you seem to like,

-they have better graphics than the older consoles and

-the games and hardware are easier to find.

Time Crisis 2 on PS2 is IMO one of the best arcade light gun shooters available for consoles and a thrill a second. Also, co op is to die for.

Since your into Virtua Cop, they also have a compilation of 1 and 2 for PS2. I believe its call Virtua Cop: Elite Edition. I used to own it until I got a Saturn with them (still wish I had it though). You can find the review for it on here as well.

Oh. That's just the Saturn games re-released on one disc. I thought you were talking about a new Virtua Cop game, which was indeed planned and never released. -Nate-

The PS2 by far, can play the PS1 lightguns on it too. In the PAL region, almost all lightgun games work with the older GunCon, which is good.

Thanks for the tips. I'll go the PS2 route. Ive been watching a few auctions on ebay for games and guns. I managed to pick up a copy of Time Crisis 3 for $4 at a second hand shop in my area.

I think the PS2 has the best lightgun games especially the games Namco developed I spent a lot of hours playing Time Crisis 2, 3 and Vampire Night. Though people do seem to forget Dino Stalker and Endgame and those weren't bad lightgun games and you can also get Ninja Assault which I've only played in the arcades which it was pretty good. The PS1 was the best for Time Crisis 1 and the Point Blank series.

Good point on being able to play PS1 games. I'm gonna shell out the extra dough for a Guncon 2. Anyone looking for Guncon 1? j/k
