GameInformer (GI) seems to be for the more mature audience, while Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM) looks like it caters to people in their mid teens to early twenties. GI has the better previews, more informative articles, and their review section seems to go into more detail when critiquing. EGM's issues are shorter, but they will come out with some really big issues like the special Halo 3 coverage coming out this week. EGM also gets their reviews out quicker than any source I can think of right now be it magazine or internet.
I subscribe to GI and EGM. Those are my two favorite magazines. I'd choose between those two.
They all suck. EGM probably the most. Out of the first 10 pages, 8 of them are ads. Reviews are sloppy, "yea, the game just sucks" pieces that 3 people respond to. It's the same thing every week. Why do you think EGM prices are so low and even free?
My advice is don't get any mags. Stick with what you can get online for free.
even though I despise doing business with Gamestop, their magazine (Game Informer) is the best on the market. I would avoid EGM at all costs. I was given a free subscription to EGM when Playstation Magazine went under, and it is the worst publication I have ever read. EGM is cheaply produced and contains old news and heavilly biased reviews.
