If you had to give up one of your legacy platforms which one would you choose? You cannot purchase it again, and all the games for that platform cannot be played again, so which one would you decide on giving up?

here is what I own:
If I had to get rid of one, its a VERY easy choice; the DreamCast.
Looking at my DreamCast collection (Skies of Arcadia, Grandia II, Soul Reaver, Evolution I & II, Phantasy Star Online, Resident Evil 2/3/CV) etc are all available on other systems, in many cases with superior versions.
Easy, my Atrai 2600. I don't play it much anymore (maybe a few days evey few years) so I wouldn't miss it at all.
That would be my choice as well. I had a Atari as a kid and even then it really didn't captivate me. I played games like Pitfall and combat, but the Atari did little to spark my imagination, it wasn't until the mighty Sega Master System that I really was born as a gamer! I could live without the Atari 2600.Easy, my Atrai 2600. I don't play it much anymore (maybe a few days evey few years) so I wouldn't miss it at all.

if I had to?
the Gameboy Colour
the reason being ive got a GBA so I can still play the games :P
Darkman2007
But you couldn't play them on your GBA as in the OP it says that you can't play games from that platform :P

For me it was the C64 that really made me into a gamer, the amount of time I played games like Terminator 2 and Mayhem in MonsterLand was time well spent.

I still couldn't care since the one GBC game I care for is Pokemon CrystalEveryone forgot about the N-gage already?Pegalamp
I never had one so I couldn't give it up if I wanted to.
If you'd give up the NES as your legacy system, that must be the only legacy system you have.I'd be the NES for me.
d_parker
i have a ps1, ps2, xbox, nes, n64, lynx, and genesis. and really I could give up the N64 the easiest. I really havent played it in a while. the next would be ps1, I despise the long load times on some of the games. and the memory card is always full.
dreamcast, it can play burned games and i still don't play it.tab134Uh oh. Such a great library of games, but the Dreamcast does cater to a specific sorta gamer. I don't know, it really seems like the Dreamcast, or Sega for that matter, has always had a different approach when it came to gaming, at least for their first party titles, and that is really what sucked me in, starting with the Sega Master System.

You sir should be burned at the stake for that.
you guys raking this guy over the coals or "burning him at the stake" are a tad over-reacting
maybe the guy has a Wii and most of his favorites on the virtual console? maybe he figured out how to emulate NES games? and maybe he just wasn't a huge fan of the NES.

fair enough, missed that part.
still, I don't see the big thing about the NES like its some sort of holy grail;regardless, maybe the guy has systems he likes more than the NES.I know I certainly do.
for example, if all I had was my SNES, PSone,Saturn, PS2 and a NES, it'd probably the NES that I'd let go.
My choice would be the Atari Jaguar. There are hardly any redeeming games worthty of my time. However, since I grew up playing the Atari 2600, I'd definitely hang on to that system for life.
N64. I've actually been contemplating selling my N64 system and games recently.
I never had one during that era. I had a Playstation and then got a Dreamcast when it came out. So a few years back I bought one and got a lot of the recommended games with it like the Zeldas, Super Mario 64, Goldeneye: 007, and others to see what I had missed out on back then.
Well, I haven't been impressed. Some of the FPS shooters are fun (I love that Doom 64 is a separate Doom title which I didn't even realize until I got it home), and the wrestling games are good. But the "gems" that all the N64 fans go on and on about I just couldn't get into. I didn't enjoy the N64 Zeldas (but I LOOOOVVVVE the 2D entries), I hated Donkey Kong 64 and Banjo-Kazooie, and Super Mario 64 wasn't bad but I didn't find all that fun either (and again, I LOOOOOOVE the 2D entries of the Mario series). I LOATHE the N64 controller, what an abomination.
I'm thinking about selling it all to get money for other games and for some comic back-issues I've had my eye on.
Same here. I bought one few years ago, solely to play Mishief Makers and Sin & Punishment.N64. I've actually been contemplating selling my N64 system and games recently.

What I own:
PS2
Gamecube
Xbox
Dreamcast
N64
Genesis (just got it though)
SNES
It'd be the DC, pretty easily. Not that it's terribly, but compared to the rest, it's an obvious last. I don't own a PS1, but I do own a couple PS1 games, and if that counts I might give that up, though I don't really own many PS1 games, so it's not really the same.
Read what the OP said about playing the system's games ever again.psx...crap video connection, slow loading, and i own a ps3.

Wow, ummm, this question sucks, but if I had to give one up I'd have to say my gameboy color, just because I can play the games on my GBA.

N64 would be very easy to get rid of for me aswell, with the exception of not being able to play "Ocarina of Time" ever again......
.....unless I'm allowed to skirt around the issue by playing the NGC's "Master Quest" version (or does that still count as the same game, lol)

I was joking.
I wouldn't burn anyone at the stake, at most I'd cut their fingers off.

lol, fair enough haha.
still, I guess I don't consider the NES as untouchable as others do; its a great system, but I wouldn't keep it over my SNES, PSone, and probably a few other systems
Master Quest, maybe. Is MQ really that much harder than the normal game? Because the severe lack of difficulty turned me off (almost as much as Navi) so if it's actually challenging, I may give it a shot......unless I'm allowed to skirt around the issue by playing the NGC's "Master Quest" version (or does that still count as the same game, lol)

It's harder, but just in a cheap way. Like having platforms that you jump on fall out from under you and stuff. It's just memorization of stupid stuff like that.
Ah, crap. Thanks for the warning. I hated Tomb Raider and Death Jr for trollish developer stunts like that, and got more than enough for one lifetime when I played I Wanna Be The Guy. Oddly enough, I loved Tower of Heaven, heh...It's harder, but just in a cheap way. Like having platforms that you jump on fall out from under you and stuff.
