Want to go old school but can't decide which one i should play, so i'm letting u guys choose for me:

red/blue

yellow

or fire red

?

I mainly threw in fire red because i was worried that red/blue/yellow might feel too outdated.

thx for ur help peeps;)

If u cant choose one, then decide which i should play first.

I think yellow is the best one because pickachu is there following the character around. If youre a big fan of pickachu also then try Yellow.

Fire red is an updated version of Red and Blue, and while it's still not the "original" experience, the graphics are much nicer and it was very well made. Yellow has a few bonuses to Red and Blue like having Pikachu follow you, and you can battle team rocket from the actual show, but really I think it's better to get the remake. :)

Having played almost every main pokemon title, here re the ones I recommend the most.

-Pokemon Red/Blue (can't go wrong with these awesome original!)

-Pokemon Gold/Silver (Took everything from the original pokemon gen and made it better)

-Pokemon Platinum (not retro, but I thoroughly enjoyed this game)

Here's what you do: Start at Pokemon Red or Blue then play Pokemon Gold or Silver (maybe Crystal) then Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire (Emerald better IMO) then go to the current gen Pokemon games :P I rather play them all in chronological order ;) but out of the ones in your poll, I would say play Pokemon Red or Blue, just to start familiarizing yourself with the game :)

Well, if you haven't played any of the games before, you might want to start with Red/Blue so the learning curve isn't as bad. But I'd say Gold/Silver are the best out of the series.

You can't go wrong with FireRed (or LeafGreen). It's a great remake with a lot of new content.

Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen are obviously superior to their original counterparts. However, if you are looking for an old school experience, go with Pokemon Red and Blue. I would personally go with the orginal games, just to get a sense of how the Pokemon franchise started out.

I say Fire Red. You get to enjoy the old-school world with some updates and better graphics.

i say pokemon yellow... its harder than the GBA remake(fire red)...also you get all three straters from red/blue.... the only drawback is you cant evolve pikachu..

fire red has berries and pokegear and stuff....it really just throws you into gen3 or 4 really fast...i suggest you start with simple with red/blue or yellow.

My first choice would be silver gold or crystal (or their remakes on the DS) but fire red is good too.

Well you can trade Pikachu to another person and then have them evolve him and trade him back. That's what I did lol. It has better starting stats then a normal pikachu too, so it ends up becoming a mega Raichu lol.

Depends how old-school you can stand. In the original Red/Blue you can't run and some of the Pokemon we've come to know and love look...mangled, I suppose. I play it mainly for the nostalgia (151 seemed like such an easy amount to remember). I would recommend FireRed/LeafGreen though. My absolute favourite was Gold on the GBC though.

Depends on what you want. Red and Blue will give you the true old-style experience. FireRed doesn't feel the same because they put in the newer mechanics. So, R/B for original experience, and FR/LG for original look, but newer options/graphics. I wouldn't bother with Yellow unless you're compelled to have a non-evolveable Pikachu to follow you around. It wouldn't be good for a first Pokemon game for people.

At this point I'd recommend starting with something on GBA (the Gen 3 games, FireRed/LeafGreen and Ruby/Sapphire), because anything made before that won't transfer to other games in the series. As long as you have or have access to a DS or DS Lite, it's possible to transfer your mons all the way up to the newest games, Black/White.

Fire Red is the best pokemon game I ever played, nothing compared with these crappy games that they're releasing now.

I'd go Crystal...you would get to battle at places as such as the battle tower which isn't prevalent in any past games and it still is 8-bit. Plus 16 gyms make it a nice entry.
