I have a 360 and a wii, but i will hav to say I am going to get the wii version as i can easy bring it with me to friends homes and i actually have space to totally rock out in in my basement compared to my room. What version are you going to get? 360? PS3? Wii? DS?
The 360 version for leaderboards, achievments, downloadable content and stuff like that. I like everyone to see that I can barely beat three songs on hard mode and I suck :D
I don't even know that I'll be buying GH3. It all depends on how Rock Band turns out.
I will say that I'm kind of disappointed in how Activision handled the DLC on the 360, and I'm worried about Neversoft handling the next game. I also didn't like to hear the Activision exec's total disrespect for the guys who created the game he now owns.
I'll be honest, if the two games are equal, my money's going with Harmonix on the next go around.
GH3 is like a stop-gap until Rock Band arrives for me. Still, it will all hinge on track selection. If I get it, I'll get the version with the best content, downloadable or not.
360, since its the only next gen console I have, and I need to put my X-plorer to use. And if rock band turns out awesome, I'll just buy that also for the guitar stuff.
Guitar Hero 3 will be the reason I finally buy an Xbox 360. I've wanted one for awhile, but there isn't anything on it that makes me stand up and say "I must own that system now."
I love the Guitar Hero series and I can't stand the idea of missing out on all the great tracks for the game, however, Rock Band looks friggin' awesome and I wanna get in on that too.
Hell, I have GameFly and play most of the games that come out through that, that gives me plenty of extra cash to afford both GH III and RB WITH all the controllers.
If the online multiplayer works well, it depends on what my friends get. I have quite a few Gamespot community members on my friends list on Xbox Live, but I also have other friends who own Wiis and would more likely get the game for that system. So I'm torn. Hell, maybe I'll get both... ... ...*sigh* I'll probably get both. *smacks forehead*

Always have your pinky on the orange fret, and your index finger on the red button. Only move your hand up when you need to reach the green fret button. This is the way to master Hard Mode.

Anyone know if there's been any information regarding the pricing of the Wii version's guitar? Given it could just be a shell that plugs into the Wiimote, it should be much cheaper than other versions, although I somewhat doubt that it will be.
