Yes. New gen blows completely. Nintendo is the only good thing about it.earthmonkeyyy
i bought a ps3 at launch but to be honest it seems like i could have skipped this gen completely as of by now.
there are still so many great games i haven't finished or even played on my ps2 that it will still take me years to finish.
so i can probably understand how you feel.
my bank account won't let me move on to the next gen. i think like last gen it takes a little while for the really good stuff to start coming out. i say give it another 6 months and we'll be seeing the good stuff. z4twenny
Yah me to, i honestly can't really afford a next gen system. like the systems themselves expensive, then games are like 60 dollars. gah everything is way to expensive.
I'm in the same boat and tbh there is nothing that really feels next gen. All the games I like still feel last gen or are only improvements in the visual department. G'ah, I've spend most of the time playing DOA4 (let's face it, even the visuals aren't totally next gen, let alone the game which is nothing that couldn't be done on the PS2) and Project Zero 2 (an actual last gen game! Still looks really good though).

Same for me bought 360 a couple of months at launch and have the essential shooter games and dont really like it gets boring if ur not on live with friends cause the single player experience iisnt really that good as of right now.

Actually no, Nintendo blows right next to them. (Except for brawl of course. Brawl is awesome)mastersword007
Even though I'm a casual, I actually honestly prefer Melee to Brawl... I was worried for a second that Brawl would make me regret not buying a next-gen console, but luckily it didn't. 8)

The same can be said for all of the new consoles. They all have their junk and they all have their gems.
I don't need or want a new console. My PC suits me just fine. (assisted by my GC and N64, of course)dgwutka
i have a pc too, one thats adequate to play most top end games with little or no problem (see my sig) but metal gear solid 4 and final fantasy 13 aren't coming out on pc.
Can't move on? I couldn't wait to move on. Last Gen BLEW.
I have a PS3 and a Wii. Might get a 360 someday, who knows. Regardless, this gen is already reminiscent of the N64/SNES days. Why wouldn't you jump all over that?

Bills suck. I'll go next gen when the prices lower and the games are better.
Although new (or current) gen opened up worlds of opportunities, graphics are taken over gameplay in development. Nowadays people feel that only pretty pictures matter and the inside doesn't really count, while back then with what we consider now as "primitive" technology, people weren't too concerned with making games so uber-realistic, so they focused more so on play quality.
Back then we had it all; games were playable over and over, there were no loopy camera angles, *cough* Sonic *cough* JRPGS didn't suck trash through a straw and people were actually smart about game quality. Man, those were the days. Even though I'll never be able to stop continuing on with the passing generations, I'll always honor what I had back then as a very young gamer, so in a way, I'm in a win-win situation, I move on seeing all the great games of the future no matter how much fewer they get and even then, I can still fire up my SNES or PlayStation and relive the joys of yesterday.

I agree nice post. But the fact is that they should start making quality games not just eyecandy.
Consoles are becoming less fun. Hard drives, patches, installing games, wtf? Hopefully analysts are right and next gen we will see consoles become consoles again, and not dumbed down PC's. I don't see the PS3 and 360 being fun boxes anymore. They are becoming pains in the butt more and more.earthmonkeyyy
seriously its like all that matters is graphics.Yes graphics are important but gameplay is priority 1 hopefully nextgen which i doubt.
nintendo blows? ha , its funny , they have more aaas and you say they blow and actually i moved on but still like the last gen and beyonds games better im an all around gamer and i feel nintendos been the best aside from that gamecube they proped with all 4 other systems and handhelds werre awsome, and wii is awsome, the only console i really dislike is the sega adons and vb ,
they all have had their games really its hard to say right now its to early but im leaning to wii right now ,, its original, fun , and for the most part worth that small price, its a steal, just like how gamecube was a steal at 199 -99 dollars is even better steal and we all can agree on one thing if a nintendo console isnt as good as the last ,, at least it wasnt near 350-400 dollars , and so far wiis offered more then enough games in one year to warrant any ones purchase, brawl isnt the only game on wii ,, theres galaxy metroid 3 zelda mariokart as of 27th of this month ,, timesplitters 4 in 08-09
re4 wii edition manhunt for those who crave violence
but ya im neutral ,, ill make my final word near the end of this gen ,,
nintendo wii and ps3 are only a year old, and at least one has offered more then what we bargined for , like i said nintendos always charged 200-250 for their consoles never in history that ive payed 400-600 until 360 and ps3
lol xbox can be included if i had gotten it at launch as at kmart it costed 500 on day one,
so ya i say those who said or is saying wii or ps3 doesnt have many good games is either in denial or they just need to quit gamig they may have lost interist in gamng altogether so ya,
and watch wii2 or what ever nintend wants to call it be 200-250 while others will be 600-800
Yeah I'm in the same boat as you. Nothing this generation so far has really peaked my interest yet. I mean the system I would most likely get from this current gen would be a wii, but the only problem is that after Mario Kart there is really nothing to look forward to on the wii for a long time. I think I remember Reggie saying something big was going to come up during E3, but I mean which franchise will it really be? I mean Nintendo has turned Donkey Kong into a Joke and there hasn't been a good kirby game (console) in a long time. I really wish nintendo would use some of there other franchises instead of just Mario, Zelda, and Mertroid.
I've also considered getting a 360 because RPG's are my favorite genre, but the failure rate of the 360 is so unappealing. I mean when purchasing a system, thinking about how long the system is going to last isn't typically a good thing. For a long time, until a couple years ago, I always bought nintendo. Their hardware is extremely reliable. If I wanted to I could just start playing my 16 year old nes. This gen is pretty tough for me because there are so few RPGs.
Exactly. And in a lot of cases the graphics aren't that much different. Even if you have a HDTV. Graphics that are not worth buying a $600 console, $65.00 games, and a $2,000 TV for.
Who cares about graphics that are brighter and unnatural looking anyway. Bring back better gameplay.
Well, I have moved on to buying a PS3 and a Wii and loving them both, but there are still a handful of PS2 titles taking up a lot of my time, and there are still a few PS2 games I haven't bought but would still like to play, plus a bunch of PS3, PSP and Wii titles I still want that have already been released...
Time is going by so quickly and the games along with it...

You hit the nail on the head. It's getting to the point where you might as well just get a PC.
I don't feel like I CAN'T move on to a next gen, I just don't want to. The last gens have better games, and more of them. And the new systems just aren't worth the money they cost at this point.

I totally agree! I buy consoles to play games, and that's it. Period. I/We don't need console online services (online for consoles doens't exist here in my country), hard drive (I still prefer memory card), and other features other than playing games.
I have moved on in every genre except RPG,
There must still be 20 unopened RPG's for my PS2 I have not touched yet.
S*** man--I have the next gen systems, yet I find myself playing on the older systems more then the next gen systems...hell I still play my Atari...Asteroids anyone?
EDIT: Forgot a few words in my post.

hmmm.... I don't thnk so. Back then they had triple a titles. Played Brawl, and I still don't think it doesn't compare to n64 ssb. Melee is bad too. imo.
i personally think this gen is shaping up nicely.
but i cant agree with you more on your point about being too young to appriciate the games around at the time. i had a ps2 from the start of last gen and missed out on those games like ico, shadow of the colossus, god of war, okami etc.
