[QUOTE="ASK_Story"]Let's just say that by the time Starcraft 2 comes out, my goal is to have a better and new computer.Galzakian
yeah ditto, although i'd like to get it sooner rather than later :D
Yeah, sooner is better.
But I figured, since I'm flat broke anyway (at least, not enough to buy a $5000 CPU), maybe by waiting a little longer, the top of the line CPU's on the market today will be average priced later on.
That's my plan. That's right, I'm a cheap-skate! :P
Don't worry so much about PC requirements. If the engine is made well then it will scale down to weaker PC's(HAlf-Life 2 anyone? The Source engine ran on my crappy 1998 PC!). If Blizzard is smart, they will follow in the original starcrafts footsteps and create a resource efficient game. Of course you wont be playing with fancy graphics, but a good game holds up no matter how it looks. Hell, I wouldn't even care if it was 2D(maybe...)!fiscope
Agreed, Blizzard isn't known for releasing games with steep system requirements, probably because they want as much people as possible playing their titles. And that's a good thing for all.
we are all doomed[QUOTE="F1Lengend"][QUOTE="_MURS_"]ive never heard of Starcraft....is it anything like World of Warcraft? Only in space or something?_MURS_
i take it im wrong.....
Ironically from your statement, Warcraft, before it became World of Warcraft, was actually the original model in which Starcraft was developed on. Basically, contrary to your statement, Starcraft was Warcraft in space.
By the way, are you familiar with the Command & Conquer series? Basically, are you familiar with the genre "real time strategy" also referred to as RTS? That's what Starcraft is. It's tough to explain how RTS works. I can go on and on, but I just suggest you check Starcraft out! It's only $10 brand new, and you can basically find it at any major retailor including Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and Frys.
It's totally worth it and be forewarned...you'll get hooked if you don't be careful. ;)
And after you finish Starcraft, I suggest you check out Warcraft III. Playing Warcraft III will make you respect WoW even more because that's where WoW came from.
If you are unfamiliar on how to upgrade your PC take your new parts to a PC store/tech and you can pay to have them install new cards and whatnot and get things up and running for you. They usually charge by the hour but some do a flat rate. Do some research online first to make sure the graphics card/ram or whatnot is compatabile with your motherboard, once you have your new compatible stuff just take it into a tech. If you're unsure how a computer goes together, and how to install things and wearing your wristband and all that... if you dont know anything about it stay away or you will do more harm than good.^^^
Oh, yeah i love those kinds of games....Im trying to figure out how to upgrade a computer just so i can play Company of Heroes

Yeah, today I came to the conclusion im gonna buy a brand new computer........i pretty much ruined mine, ran out of disk space, I never ever defragged it or cleaned it...there is heat damage or something like that.....
I have $1000 coming in, so i should be able to get a good one....
I still get the feeling that it's just Starcraft 1 with better graphics :|selbie
Unfortunately I also get this vibe. I love starcraft and all, but this second one doesn't seem to change the gameplay much, just bring it into 3D. The jumping units are cool though. We'll see.
You guys do realize that SC2 should never, ever change the gameplay of the original Starcraft? "It's just better graphics." Right, with a bunch of new features and units. What else do you want, it is STAR CRAFT TWO. Perhaps some of you didn't play the original, but if you didn't here's the scoop: It is the greatest RTS of all time and the fact that it is still played every day around the world after 9 years is the proof of it's amazing design and balance. All I want from Blizzard with SC2 is improvement on the original, not a totally new game. Of course, I'd pay double what the game is worth to play it no matter what they do with it as long as it's called SC2 and it's made by Blizzard.

Yeah, QFT.
Everyone has to realize thatStarcraft's biggest market is not the US or Europe, but it's South Korea.
Starcraft is basically Korea's national sport. It's a huge phenomenom over there. For example, 9 million Starcraft units were sold worldwide and 4 million were sold in South Korea alone. That's insane when you think about it!
So Blizzard CANNOT EVER risk changing the Starcraft formula, EVER! If they do, Blizzard can kiss their popularity in Korea goodbye. This is very important and Blizzard of course is aware of this. Since Korea continues to have huge national competitions with the original Starcraft, I think Blizzard's goal is to replace those competitions with a newer "evolved" version so the returning professional Starcraft players won't miss a beat because of some new innovative gameplay feature. So that's why Blizzard can't change anything to the original formula because they have to keep up with the tradition. It's just a evolution...a HUGE evolution.
So there's no way Blizzard would compromise the Starcraft formula. They just can't and won't.
So Starcraft 2 will basically belike a expansion pack, but one that changes everything to 3D with awesome graphics.
