if you don't know what the E-Card reader was it's ad add on to the GBA that could scan cards and play games. You'd plug it into the game slot then scan 5 (or so) cards to play a game. Most of the games that came out were bad NES games (except Excite Bike, Balloon Fight, and Ice Climbers) there was even going to be game and watch games as well as originals. Outside of games there was add on cards were you could add on content to your games You bought them like pok'e mon booster packs . The only games that were supported were Mario party 5, Animal crossing, Pok'e Mon Sharpie, Rubie, and Super Mario bros 3. The cards for example added power ups to your innovatory to smb3 and challenge levels, in animal crossing it would add exclusive items like shirts. Nintendo was fully going to support this and in 03 a few games came out as well as the add on cards. The E-Card reader was very unportable and cumbersom to fit in a pocket. It was a slow process scanning 5 cards. Holding the Gba seemed unbalanced and could flip out of your hands if they we rent sturdy. Most games were hard to see if you did not have a light. Games must of sold poorly, i did not see alot of them released during 03. in mid 04 they were in stores no more, Nintendo moved on to the classic nes series. I still have my e-card reader as well as all the games and included cards. So do any of your remember the e-card reader?

i use to have one when it first came out but i think i gave it to a friend because he wanted it really bad. It was a really cool idea but it was too bulky. I'm sure that if there was a small accessory like that for the dsi ... most pokemon players would use it ... which would also generate more sales for the trading card game. I use to play the Balloon Fight A LOT.

I still have my GBA E-card reader but I never use it. I remember when I got Super Mario Bros. 3 on GBA for Christmas it came with a card.. I tried using it but I don't think it'll work for me since I have a GBA SP and not a regular GBA. Oh well.. I only paid $5.00 or so for a used one at GameStop last year. Wish I had more cards and was able to use it, since I own Animal Crossing on the GC and they have special cards for the E-reader that go with Animal Crossing. Lol. SpaceAngelCyn

The Animal Crossing part is why I always wanted an E-Card Reader :P
