After watching Rambo a few nights back I was thinking, why hasn't a developer licensed this franchise for a FPS game. C'mon, Rambo is the perfect icon to use in a first person game. Imagine a game that lets you tackle elements from all 4 movies as our beloved green beret. Using Aks, M16s, M60s, RPGs, The Bow with explosive grenade tips, and of course the survival knife. Or they could make a totally new story line using Rambo in one of todays modern settings. Maybe they could make it a two player game where you and Col. Trautmango to war together. If you think about it...Rambo would be a no brainer for a FPS as long as they do a great job and pay homage to one of the big screens most visceral heros. Maybe Starbreeze could do it as they pulled off a stellar job with The Chronicles of Riddick Escape From Butcher Bay. Personally I can't believe that a FPS based on Rambo hasn't been made already. If Stallone who is in his 60's can resurrect the franchise I am sure it can be done equally as well in videogame form. Would love to hear what other Rambo fans think of this idea?

that would be a good idea but it has to be created by people who made gears or uncharted 2, and maybe starbreeze like you said but what else can he do?it's just mindless shooting.. it's Dynasty warriors meet Rambo :P

Well Mr. Tsuantnony. I figure you could base the game on the four Rambo movie and incorporate some stealth aspects. Imagine the first game. You start out slow and run from the law and you stay hidden and boobie trap the forest. You get extra challenge points or achievements by not killing the police. At the end of the level you get to break loose on the town and hunt down Teasle. In the second movie you get to go back to Vietnam. First part you do some recon and then extract the POWs before letting loose on the Vietcong. Third game you have to sneak into the Russian base and get out Trautman before going toe to toe with the Russian forces and teaming up with the Afgan fighters to bring down the tanks and warplanes. Then you get to go to Burma and rescue the missionary team from the Burmese rebels. Here you get the help of some awesome Mercenariesand bait the fighters to chase you through a forest before lighting them all up with your 50 cal machine gun and then go have a one on one with the leader and introduce him to your machete. I am sure no matter how mindless people may think Rambo could be, can it really be any worse than most of the pointless run and gun shooters out there. I think a GOOD FPS with the Rambo license could sell really well. Alot of gamers who currently own a PS3 or Xbox 360 grew up watching and loving that franchise.

Bear in mind, in Rambo the Karen rebels are the good guys. The bad guys are the government soldiers.

Also, while Rambo is almost universally known, I don't see why a developer would work on a licensed game (which would bind them to certain scenarios, people and weapons and which they would have to pay for the privilege of using) as opposed to just creating something from scratch which they would completely own.

A Rambo TPS/Stealth/Survival game would be sweet, sort of a cross between MGS3 and uncharted and farcry.

It's sorta been done already. Turok was like that only more futuristic, but I think Rambo would be a sweet game to play, provided they did it right.

Good suggestion with Turok. They could totally make a Rambo game on that engine and style of gameplay. I think Turok was a decent game but unsold due to the heavy FPS competition and poor marketing. The original Turok game did well on N64 cause it was agroundbreaking title for its time and FPS games were just starting to make it big in the market. In order to succeed in this day and age you have to have a great idea, market the heck out of it and it has to look and play well. I wouldn't even care if they made a Rambo game without multiplayer as long as they game us some good co-op. I belive the Rambo franchise offered us so many memorable moments that would play out great as a videogame. You could have a few driving segments similar to Bad Company, some stealth similar to Riddick, some pure all out action similar to COD but do it all with the greatest movie war machine there is...Rambo. I think the composite bow with the explosive arrows would be so much fun. Maybe you could even hide in muck or water and knife people as they passed by. So much potential in this license and once again I am so amazed no one has done this already. I would buy this game...guarenteed!

I definately want a Rambo FPS, and if it's done properly, it could be HUGE!
