The one you had the most memories with, or the best series... doesn't matter. For me it would be mega man Zero because i loved his storyline and struggle he had in the megaman zero games.

Mega man X, the problem I had with the mega man series is that they were hard as hell, X had a perfect level of difficulty
I've only played through the original series and Mega Man X, so I'd have to go with the original series. Even if I played through the whole X series, I bet I'd still prefer the originals.

Same with me. MM was way too hard.
loved the X series.Well of old Megaman I tend to favor Megaman 3, because those robot masters just clicked with me and the game itself gave me a challenge that stuck out as also being insanely fun. Much more than any other classic MM game. 2nd place would be Megaman 7.
The X series? Best memories I have is X2, as it was my first SNES game ever, and I still play it regularly to this day, even learning how to speed run it properly. I beat it probably around 10 times a week I'd say, if I have the spare time between classes. The best from the X series would probably be X3 though. Struck a balance between difficulty, complexity and design. It was tough if you were going through your first time, but tougher if you were trying to find the most optimal, fastest method of getting through the stage. It does suffer from the fault of throwing damage at you just for the sake of damage though.
Zero series, Megaman Zero 3 or 1.
Battlenetwork, number 3 or 6.
Megaman Legends 1. Couldn't finish 2, got bored.
At this point all the NES ones sort of meld together.Heirren
I grew up with them, so it may be easier for me to tell them apart because of that. All of them used to be in my original NES collection from childhood before my brother sold it all.
#1 - The original, and the most unique looking NES Mega Man game due to slightly different graphics. (And arguably the hardest. I could never beat it.)
#2 - Mega Man refined. This one polished up the graphics, gameplay, level design, and music to the top-notch quality we all expect from a Mega Man game. (And it's my favorite one.)
#3 - Introduced Rush the Robot Dog and the slide kick manuever. And introduced Protoman.
#4 - Introduced the charge-up gun as a standard weapon for Mega Man.
#5 - Mega Man vs. Protoman
#6 - Jet-Pack Mega Man. That's what the cover looked like at least. Instead of riding on or in Rush the Robot Dog, Rush would "merge" with Mega Man to make a jet-pack or an underwater suit.
So yeah, obviously my personal choice is the original blue bomber.
I really liked Mega Man Legends, as well and would love the chance to play Mega Man Legends II. And I do really like what I've played of Mega Man X, I just haven't played a lot of it yet, only Mega Man X 1 & 2 and Mega Man Xtreme so far (I do have the Mega Man X collection, and I plan on getting into the series more, just haven't done it yet).
My first Megaman was 4 on the NES when I was a kid but then I got 5 and 6 and since they all felt the same I stopped liking the series. Megaman X came for the Snes and that one became my absolute favorite game of all times until I played MMX4. The fact that Zero was so awesome in that game was enough for me to make it my favorite in the entire series.
Megaman 8 finally abandoned the 8-bit style and the horrible MM7 art-style and loved it. I loved Megaman Legends too.
From these 3 series of Megaman I own all the games too. MMX 1-8, MM 1-10, MML 1-2 (well, except for the Tronne Bone one). >So it would go like this:
1st - MMX4 (epic graphics, epic music, epic gameplay, epic Zero)
2nd - MM8 (epic intro, charming as hell and loved the upgrades)
3rd - MML (MML2 was bigger and better in every single way but I liked the simplicity of the first one better)
I tried to play other Megaman games but they all are so different. I tried to get into Megaman Zero but couldn't, Megama ZX was meh and don't even talk about Battle Network series... It just wasn't the same anymore.

the trick of the regular Mega Man games is to use the correct weapon. Every single boss in the game is particulary weak to certain weapon but people are so lazy to test them all and find the correct one that they just go with the mega buster.

As did I. We loved the Mega Man games. Each time a new one came out we'd rent it and made sure we beat it. I think my favorite was the one with the fish robots. Wow that was a long time ago.MEGA MAN X4 for me personally.

This. I've played all the Mega Man X games and about half the Mega Man games, and this is still by far my favorite.
Reading this thread makes me remember back in the day the impact X4 had on the Megaman community. The ability to play as Zero was literally every kids dream come true. Lol. Can't blame em either, god damn he's badass personified.
