Games last many many hours so yeah it's worth it

I own many video games, around 50 and I don't regret the money I spent on that collection

An admission ticket to Disneyland is $60 and that's only good for one person, one day. A decent game keeps me and my buds entertained for a month.

I think they are worth the price. But some games that aren't that good or that are just old, have a cheaper price.

What about the developers? They spent a lot of time (year/years) making games like Halo or SSBB.

I think they deserve a little bit of money for their time and effort to make me happy

On the other hand, if its a crap game, then they should be paying ME to get it

I can see why the games are so expensive, better graphics and HD, and now they can be longer than before.

How much do you pay to have a good time? People pay $50 to spend a few hours at disnley land.. SOme people pay $80 for a 10minute lap dance.. I figure usually get anywhere from 10-100+hours of fun from a good game, and i think its worth atleast $6 a hour! So i actually consider $60 cheap, unless the game sucks and you dont get any hours of fun out of it!

I've never really had issues with the price. I think we were very spoiled last generation when new games were $50 and seemed to drop down to $20-30 within a year. I say it every time, but I remember the days of paying anywhere from $60-80 for N64 games, so the current $60 pricetag doesn't really bother me. If your funds are limited, buy only the elite games or rent maybe. Don't get suckered into the worthless collector's editions is also a good piece of advice.

You listed the reasons in your original posts, TC, and the answer is yes.

As a developer, it would be a far better move to develop your fan base at this point in time. Dropping your games to a price of $40 doesn't hurt you as a developer if you make quality games. By lowering the price, you develop your fan base, and you'll sell more product. If you sell more product at a reduced price, it's pretty much the same as selling less product at a more expensive price, but now you have an almost guaranteed number of people that will continue to by your future games when you expand your customer base. With a larger fan base, you can raise the price of your games a dollar or two and a later date and make far more money than you would by selling far fewer copies at an outrageous price.

When the Nintendo 64 first came out, games were 80 dollars... this was over 10 years ago.

Take a look at all the prices around you such as gas for one... Go to gamestop and buy some used quality games for under 30, or else just get a job like most of us.
