The open ended game experience is amazing...I can play forever after beating all of the missions hours at a time just doing stuff like driving around different vehicles cars, bikes, airplanes, boats...jumping off of anything and performing stunts..its just a giant world to play around in and do anything you want...I wanna play more games like it, its the only game I can play for this long without getting bored of it. Other games just have a set course and beating it means game over. GTA is awesome

If you think there aren't enough GTA clones in the market, you're not looking hard enough.

Yes. Godfather, Scarface, True Crimes, Driver, and many more that decided to incorporate the open endness...

If you question, however, is "Why aren't there any GTA clones that is as good as GTA if not better?" Then you are correct.

The only really good GTA-clone I've played was Mercenaries, which had more of a focus on combat and destruction. I like that game as much as any of the GTA games so far, which is why I'm hanging for Mercenaries 2 (and also why I'm excited that it's coming out on PC too). I haven't played Scarface yet, which I've heard mixed things about it, some say it's great, others say it sucks. Scarface seems to be the only other GTA-clone already released that I'm interest in having a crack at, so what's it really like? Decent or not?

If your too lazy to look up each and every one of the GTA clones available, here's a complete list of them in links.

Crackdown

Driver

Driver 2

Driver 2 Advance

DRIV3R

Driver: Parallel Lines

Driver '76

Saints Row

Scarface: The World Is Yours

The Getaway

The Getaway: Black Monday

Gangs of London(The Getaway Spin-Off)

The Getaway (working title)

The Godfather

The Godfather: Mob Wars

The Godfather: Blackhand Edition

The Godfather: The Don's Edition

True Crime: Streets of LA

True Crime: New York City

I'm probably missing a few, but you get the point. As you see, there is deffinately no shortage of GTA clones, and there are still more on the way. It is worth noting that all of these games have been getting Poor-Okay reviews from not just GameSpot and their community, but also many other reputable sources. You may find enjoyment out of some of these, but nine times out of ten, you'll probably think they're all complete trash. Still, one must try before one criticizes.

Actually out of that list, Saint's Row is the most critically acclaimed game from there... if you're looking for a GTA clone, you could do a lot worse than Saint's Row

You honestly think there aren't enough GTA clones out there. If you want a really good one I think Saint's Row is the best GTA clone. Most others aren't as good.

As everybody else has pointed out, its not the fact that there isn't another game like gta on the market, its that there isn't another game like gta that is as good, apart from perhaps Saints Row. I love the gta games and I usually hate the clones of it because there are far too many bad clones which just ruin things. It is slightly different with Saints Row though. In my opinion, its a good clone because it differs in aspects but still gives as much fun and enjoyment.

Again, its not a question of "why is there no games like gta?", its a question of "why can't the clones of gta, make a good job of it?".

Mafia for PC is the only GTA3-style game that actually managed to be better then GTA3 itself, no other game outside of the GTA series has recieved as much acclaim or came close to being as good as the GTA games as Mafia managed to do.

There are many games similar to Grand Theft Auto, but none of them are quite as good. Only Rockstar could take up the challenge of putting New York into a video game and making it look great.

Yes I agree, there needs to be more of game like GTA's. I don't care if the games "copy" GTA, as long as they make it more option-esk then GTA. The Godfather was pritty good, time period and all, but very few options. Free roamers rule!

One of the problems with the gaming industry is that if anything looks remotely similar to anything its deemed a big fat fake, fraud, rip-off, wannabe, imitation piece of rubbish. The reason GTA clones are rarely successful is because theyre not GTA and people dont want a new version, they want a sequel.
