Why Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3 suddenly stops working while playing. ?

Whether i play online mode or offline mode the game suddenly lags and shows a black screen.
Computer does not work at all, i can't even Ctrl + Alt + Delete. I have to reboot the PC to bring it back to life. What seems to be the problem. ?

Processor is overheated thats what i think
