I fig i post here due to system wars being fanboy blvd. I'm just curious why is things so out of hand these days of being a gamer. When i was a kid and the Super Nes and Sega Gen had there big so called 16 bit war i wish i could have had both. I was lucky enough my parents spent there hard earned money on me to get me a Nintendo in late 91 when it was pretty much dead to the 16 bit. Then to get Super Nes for my bday haha was great. I only knew a few kids back then that had both and it was like for us "gaming nerds" it was like whoa. Neo Geo back then was like the SuperStar system to own.

This gen i own a 360 and a Wii. I have nothing against the pS3 at all in fact i been trying to get the cash for it alot lately cause local shop is still selling the 60 gig, but due to bills and other things i can't just drop 500 anymore. My 360 only has a few games and my Wii i mainly use for Resident Evil and old games. I dunno if i was a teen today i would be into so many outdoor activities along with the chance to own 2-3 great systems out there. Yet all they seem to do is fight over online about PS3 to 360 specs.

Its sad to a old school hardcore gamer that today is so a daytime talk show to just enjoy something. Who cares if Devil May Cry 4 has better detail in wood on a deck on the PS3 but better resolution on a cape for the 360. I never saw it get this bad before.

Buying both a PS3 and a 360 is enough $ to put a major hole in almost anyone's wallet.

Well, owning both systems is pretty expensive, so with more people buying one or the other the divide between who bought what is much bigger, thus there are more fanboys out there than ever. Screw what game is better on what system, I'm still loathing the $60 price point on just a damned video game.

i'm having a tough time saving up to buy the 360 console.. but now i dont even know if its worth it because all of the games are at least $50 or more.
i don't know how people can afford so much.

Basically, you make a case for David Jaffe's argument that there should only be one console. It's hard to support your hobby when the costs keep rising.

There's not much reason to buy a 360 and a PS3 unless you want less games for both. Wii60 or PSWii is the way to go.

I own all three consoles and a gaming PC right now and there is no reason to own all three.

At any given time two are collecting dust. The only thing I play on a regular basis is my PC. People say if you onw a PC you don t need a 360 but I play my 360 and PC the most.

A general trend I see with gamers and at least this holds true for all my friends who are into gaming is owning a PS3 and a Wii or owning a 360 and a Wii.

I have both the 360 and PS3, my PS3 is not yet open, I only got it because I found the 60gig one, and I'm waiting for MGS4. I don't get into what's better, each has it's own positives and negatives. And fanboyism has been around since the beginning, and only seems more pronounced today because the industry is a lot larger, than when us old timers where playing NES.

That is the situation for my ps3 right now too. It is basicly just waiting around for a big exculisive like MGS4 I know I will want to play, so I am not getting rid of it only to purchase it again in 6 months or something.

Back in the day I use to own all three 16bit consoles. Turbo Graphix 16, Genesis & SNES. Ahh those were the days! I know what a freek, but I`m as hardcore of a gamer as you get. I spent all of my money that I made from my crappy job in my younger days on those consoles/games. Nowadays I`m no different, maybe worse. I own the Dreamcast, PS2, GameCube, Xbox, PSP, DS Lite, PS3 and at one time and soon again ( going on my third ) Xbox 360. Hey the way I look at it is if you can look pass the fanboyness of your choice of console(s), owning more then one console is great and that games are games and having alot of variety is the only way to go.

I own a 360, PS3 and Wii. It's great. I think you have to own all the consoles. I still own the Xbox, PS2 and GameCube from last generation. I've also got a PS1, GBA and SNES lying aroung somewhere.

I'm lucky to have a job that pays well but most of it is managing your money right. I own around 130 games for the various platforms and I just bought my second HDTV. A 40" 1080p Samsung.

I don't think anyone would turn down a console if it were offered to them for free. This is why I think fanboyism comes from jealousy because this person can't afford or doesn't want to save for another console. I find it funny, and kinda sad.

I have a PS3 and Wii. Used to have all 3 at one point until my 360 pooped out on me.

I'm happy with what I have now though.

I have a 360 and Wii. I have only really got my Wii for GC games and the new SSB though. I will probably sell it and buy a gamecube in a year or so.

My 360 I will probably keep for 2 - 3 more years and I will probably buy a PS3 in 2 or so years time due to it costing so much, that is the main reason why it's usually ahrd to own 2 consoles now, money.

Your 360 is still in warranty. Why don't you get it fixed? Can't play Ninja Gaiden 2 on a PS3.

I own a a pc, ps2 and psp. The way I see it is why pay so much to get everything when you can just get the best of whats available cheapest. I play 90% of the time on my pc playing fps's or the occasional rpg. When I don't feel like playing pc I play on my ps2 on one of the final fantasies and when I'm out and about I pull out the psp to play an srpg.

I will probably eventually get both the ps3 and 360...but at the moment I am happy with my PC and PS2.

I am actually overwhelemed with the amount of games that I still haven't played for these two systems.

And I stopped trying to play too many games at once, it just got too confusing...

So I am playing one Online game at the moment, and that's actually more than enough for me...as I am trying to get into different hobbies as well.

I'm starting to think it's foolish to own more than one console.

The average cost of a gaming console is a bit more than $300 (I am assuming a Premium 360 and a 40GB PS3). So you pick up one console. The cost of the second console? Well, about 5-6 games. That's just the cost to own the other system with nothing to play. Then you get into the issue of additional cables (such as HDMI) and additional controllers.

When you start realizing how many gameplay experiences you will miss just to actually own another console, then I think for a lot of people the value of that second console is significantly lower. I own a Wii and a PS3 and totally regret getting the Wii. I don't even have enough money to play all the games on just the PS3 alone (which many argue has the weakest lineup), let alone having enough money/time to pick up any games I'd like to try on the Wii.

If I had an infinite supply of money, sure, get them all. But I think for most people, just getting one is actually the best option.

I agree with you except for the fact that I think a lot of gamers, if not most, will tear through one console.

I will keep it to myself but there is only one console of the current gen crop that has enouph games to satisfy one gamer. Up to this point at least.

dont worry about things you read on forums. the only ppl that are gonna post controversial topics like that are the biast fanboys glorifying their systems. there are plenty of ppl out there that are like you and i, unbiast and supportive of all consoles and the competitiveness. i personally own a PS3 X360 & WII.

I agree, I use to love the days of non fanboy days when it wasent "oh my 360 is better than your ps3" or vise versa. I own both 360 and ps3. So I dont get into that hype and non sense. 9 times out of 10 fanboys just cant afford to buy both consoles(no disrespect) and are arguing for there system as if it is the best ever.
