I must ask, why? Why the f*** would you do such a thing. I know someone who does say this and I think he's in denial because he pre-ordered the game and he got it for 360. Sad sad sad. What's your opinion?

The people who like Duke Nukem Forever are probably those are not stuck in the bubble of nostalgia. I mean, yeah it wasn't what we were promised but i don't think that it must be THAT bad. Yes, here probably is some problems with it but it probably has some qualities too. I haven't played it yet but it is probably fun. If i play DNF one day, yeah the feeling of nostalgia would probably take over me but i think that i would appreciate it but it proably IS the biggest disapointment in gaming history anyway.
Perhaps because THEY *gasp* liked it. Seriously though is this really something that's worth making a thread over?Archangel3371Of course! We don't need things like "opinions" on gaming websites!
I never played the original DN3D and I felt it was a solid experience on the PC, very well optimized and can run on max settings @ 1080p on pretty much any gaming computer with more power than your average cell phone and as far as I could tell, it seems glitch free, at least for the 14 hours it took me to beat the campaign and I played the multiplayer a bit. This game seemed to cater a little too much to people that want to roleplay as Duke Nukem, but I think most of the people that waited all this time just wanted him to be a badass rather than to roleplay as him and that's part of where all the ultramarine rage may come from. I liked the level design, gameplay, and weapons, although I really wish I could carry at least four weapons at a time since I hated having to choose which gun I want to keep with me.
For me DNF was a departure from the muddy browns, overly serious, and drowned in fluff games we have today, I know that I probably would've hated the game at every moment if I had a clue about the game's long development history and the terrible reviews, but both me and my cousin thought it was a really neat game, so I guess ignorance really is bliss :P I think the PC version deserves at least a 70/100 but I'd laugh if HL3 has the same sort of response if it comes out in like 2020.
I guess the wait was just too long. The longer and bigger the hype the more impact the disappointment is going to have. It also made a lot of players go into denial because they wanted the game to be good having waited for so long. As to whether or not it's actuallya good game, I'm still not sure...
No one is saying Duke Nukem Forever is a good game. I think it's slightly above terrible, not deserving a 3, but not worth a 5 either, somewhere in the middleBlack_Knight_00
I thought it was a good game. I would've given it a 7.5.
But it did fall short of my expectations. Uhh--not that I was expecting it to be the best game of all time.
It's a shame that people have this silly attitude with this game of 'they disagree with me so they must be in denial'. Honestly, I would be bashing this game if it was given 9.5s across the web.
I hated the game after I gave the game a chance for awhile.
Not only did it fell short of my expectations, but it was also a HUGE step backwards from the Duke Nukem series. Granted, this was a vision that was held up fifteen, sixteen years ago, but there's literally NO EXCUSE to make this game a bad one and that's what happened here.
It does deserve a 3.0 and I believe that's the same rating I gave it as well in my reader review. I remember, back in the day, it was all about blasting your enemies and finding key cards, along with exploring the environment. In the past, it wasn't bad at all and I enjoyed the hell out of it. But in Duke Nukem Forever, minimal shooting sequences are to be found and instead, we get a platformer/puzzle FPS that doesn't necessarily work well? A lot of stupid, unnesscessary design choices came into play and hurt the game in the long run. It's definitely one of the worst, if not THE WORST, game of 2011. I was so glad that I was able to refund my copy and get my money back!
I watched the review on this site, and it was extremely condesending. He gave it a 3 out of 10. I didn't think it deserved that low, but the reviewer was right. watch the review and then play the game and you will see everything he says about the game that is aweful is true. He's kindof a dick about it but he's right.

Kind of a dick about it? Kevin wasn't being a dick about it, he was telling the truth, from start to finish. Even you said so yourself; everything that he said about the game IS true. And I know for a fact that it's true.

Yea, I agree, but he handeled it a bit more condesending then a reviewer should. I think he was a bit angry that the game was complete **** There were alot of comments between the actual reviewing process that were only included to make the game sound like more crap than it was. And it was a pretty big piece of s***. It reminds me of steven hawking, he is almost always right, but he's also kind of a dick about it.

:? So being brutally honest about a bad game is the same thing as being a dick? If a game development team takes as long as they did with DNF, wouldn't you expect there to at least be some redeeming qualities? If you are met with a heap of disappointment, wouldn't you want to be brutally honest as well? Especially if you've been strung along for...how many years was it?One mans trash is another mans treasure. It takes an amazing amount of arrogance to tell someone they didn't actually enjoy a game and are just in denial. (essentially accusing them of lying)I guess the wait was just too long. I would say one we can say for certain is the game was awful. Didn't deserve a 3 tho, only the xbox version deserved a 3. The pc version would probably be a 4.

One mans trash is another mans treasure. It takes an amazing amount of arrogance to tell someone they didn't actually enjoy a game and are just in denial. (essentially accusing them of lying) Being in denial is not the same as lying and was not what I was trying to suggest. I was merely pointing out that I know *I* was certainly trying to see the game in the best possible light despite it's evident flaws and I know a lot of others were too based on the responses in various forums. Don't try using big words in an attempt to start a vague argument about nothing, mate. It's beneath you.[QUOTE="Flavorysoup"][QUOTE="chicknfeet"] :? fair enoughNice analogy, but I don't think it would have been right for Kevin to take the high road and just say "Oh, it's Duke Nukem! It should be given a free pass just because we've been waiting for fifteen years!" That's unacceptable to say and I'm in agreement with chickenfoot. After waiting for so long, this should have been the game that surpassed all expectations. You have to understand, this game underwent through MANY changes and this is a fact, judging by the screenshots. Maybe if this game was released fifteen years ago, I think people wouldn't have mind it, but today's gaming world is quite different. Fans like myself expected this to be the spiritual successor to Duke Nukem 3D while improving upon the gameplay formula and taking away any and all weaknesses that held back DN3D from being a masterpiece (although there's no such thing in a videogame, no matter what game it is, because there's ALWAYS something to complain about). But Duke Nukem Forever failed to accomplish this and instead of doing what I mentioned, it took away just about everything that made the previous games good and added in weakness after weakness and brought in new ones. That, to me, is unacceptable.
I know because I gave Duke Nukem Forever a shot and went as far as I could with it. The more I played, the more disgusted I became. But this is just a matter of personal opinion. For some reason, people find Duke Nukem Forever to be not so bad and you know what? Good for them! If they love Duke Nukem Forever, then by all means enjoy the heck out of it! But since I've been given a bad taste in my mouth, I completely understand where Kevin is coming from with his review. Maybe he's like me and was hoping it would be a good experience and when that didn't happen, he got angry and did the review the way he wanted. And I don't blame him; for me, Duke Nukem Forever was and still is a terrible game on all fronts. I even have a reader review of the game up for further explanation on how I felt on Gamespot (shameless plug, I know! :P). All in all, it's just a bad game in general. Avoid it!
