Why do we buy games?

Hey folks.

I'm working on a project and I'm looking for some input from gamers other than myself.

Why do you buy games?

Why do you choose a specific platform?

I buy games for the fun andchoose PS3 because of the graphics and great exclusives you get.

I buy games because I enjoy playing them. I buy certain types of games for the same reason, I like the genre.

i buy games(retro most of the time) to escape reality for a ittle bit and do what I WANT to do

I buy games because they're entertaining and I need something to pass the time that I should be spending going for perfect grades and spending time with friends.

It's a great way to socialise. With a full lobby of friends playing call of duty or halo is some of the funniest moments you can have :D I choose xbox because that's what my friends play.

Entertainment.

If the game is bad I entertain myself by mocking it.

The question isnt why you play games, but why you buy games.

Simple. Because i get bored of playing the same thing over and over again. So i tend to switch from 1st person to 3rd person Shooters/Action games

I buy games to play them and have fun I guess. Choosing a platform depends on what my friends had and its exclusives.

Buy games for un, and own a 360, DS and Wii. If a game is fun on oneof those systems, I'll play it. Also, I usually base purchases on history of the developers.

I've been a gamer since 1995 and show no signs of slowing down.

Gamers (not fanboys)buy games cause we enjoy playing games like people love to play football with friends or guys/gals who love to build cars, it's a hobby that in a way we can get away from reality and be a super soldier who saves the world or is a knight slaying demons. The fantasy factor of games surpasses movies and books in a lot of ways cause "you're in control" and it's more open in some ways than reading a book and or watching a movie.

I've gamed on a lot of machines from PC,360,PS3,Xbox,PS2,Wii,Gamecube,N64,PS1,Dreamcast and a Snes. I have a lot of game time under my belt and a lot of fun times with friends playing counter strike at cafes in the late 1990's, Halo 2 lan parties, going through Hell mode in Diablo 2 with my buds and going through RE5 on co-op with my best friend, all of which I cherish and look forward to similar events in the future.

We buy games cause it's just more than a hobby, it's something that shows us alternate realities, it gives us the THRILL factor of getting the high score with our best friend by our side yelling at the top of our lungs.

For fun.Not too sure what other reasonthere could be.

Mostly for the games available.

I buy games because I love to play them. Any genre. Been playing since '84, going to for as long as I can.

I get the platforms that have the games I want to play. So, all of them.

Will most likely be skipping next gen's MS and Nintendo consoles though, too pricey.
