Dude, that's like asking "Why do we enjoy movies" or "Why do we read books/Comics/novels," or "Why do we play sports?" etc.
It's just entertainment. For me, it also relieves stress (unless I'm playing Ninja Gaiden or Ultimate Ghosts and Goblins." Also, it helps cope with sleepless nights...even lonely ones.
But most of all, it's fun and it's a cool hobby...but it's murder on the wallets!

all humans need something to prodive meaning to thier life, it doesn't matter as much what it is, what matters is that you do it well. i'm glad to see someone doing philosophy on these boards. this is a very important question for all of you to ask yourselves.
