It is not only popular to play, but also to hate. People hate stuff because they are popular, others also hate stuff simply because other people hate them. CoD's reputation got ruined by Modern Warfare 2. Other than that there are people sick of the lack of evolution in the series, short campaigns and unbalanced multiplayer. As for me I am indifferent to the series, I havent picked up any but I can see why people both love and hate them.
Its not bad, but its pretty much the same game as cod4, mw2, and waw. It hasn't improved in any major way either
Its a great FPS, it gives you a decent single player campaign and a ton of multiplayer modes & a survival zombie mode. Some people may be growing tired of the franchise, but overall its a solid gaming experience. If you take advantage of all the different modes packaged in the game, you'll get hours and hours of playing time.
I bought Black Ops because it's what my brother and friends play, and they don't buy many games. I think a lot of people get pissed about Call of Duty because it puts money in Activision's pocket, and they have a reputation for **** on gamers. Not a whole lot you can do to motivate them to be less sleazy when they're making millions.
I don't know about other people, but I'm personally just tired of CoD games. A new one comes out every year, but there haven't even been any major changes to the gameplay formula since CoD4. Sadly it looks like CoD is going to go the way of Madden.Xeros606
I never thought of it that way, but you're absolutely right. Every Call of Duty has just been a rehash of the last since CoD4. But it's not just CoD, I feel like a lot of games are going the way of Madden.
Because it's immensely popular, and anything that is incredibly popular receive a lot of backlash. But it depends whether or not, the game deserves the backlash. In Black Ops case, no. It's not a great game, but it isn't bad like a lot of internet rebels make it out to be. The game is quite good; the single-player is adequate and the multi-player is well-balance. However, it has flaws worth noting. Such as Sam Worthington's bizarre voice acting, over-use of slow motion, respawning enemies, poor maps, inconsistent hit-detection, and a godawful spawn-system.
Overall, it's a solid game. Not as good as CoD4, but MUCH better than Modern Warfare 2.
