there is a thread about the best games on the ps2 and a ton of people listed FFX. imo it is one of the worst FF games ever, granted i havent played X-2, and have just started XII (and hate the battle system). But FFX is in no way the best game for the PS2. i mostly play rpgs, and i beat FFX twice. it was a decent game, but not a good FF. Waka got on my nerves so bad and that ball he threw around was the most retarded weapon i can recall. the game was to linear for a FF the story wasnt that great compared to others. actually i dont think they have produced a good FF since VIII. IX,X,X-2 (from what i hear), and XII (the little i have played) are all weak games compared to the previous FF's. so why is FFX given so much respect to be called the greatest game on the ps2 by so many. i think square enix could crap on a plate and call it final fantasy and people would say it was the greatest thing ever. i enjoy final fantasy as much as the next guy, but to say X is the best game on the ps2, or that it ranks high in the FF series is just absurd.

because:

- graphics were (and still are) amazing for its time

- the gameplay is awesome and addictive

- the sphere grid was different and innovative

- you could go through the game countless times because you could change the sphere grid however you liked

- for some people, titus was a likeable character

- for some people, they enjoyed the story

i'll give you that the graphics are good, but to me graphics aren't what make agame good. I like what X did with the summons, but the grid didnt impress me that much. the story wasnt horrible, but i thought other FF had better stories. and i didn't mind titus, he didnt move me one way or another, but i didnt care for some of the other characters. and to me that was kinda the problem with this final fantasy is that it doesnt hold up with the series very well. don't get me wrong it was a good game. i liked it enough i played it through twice, but for me it could have been a lot better. but being a decent game doesnt qualify it as the best on a console. i think a game needs to be a little more than decent.

FFX was a fantastic game. The story was good the characters were amusing but most importantly the gameplay was amazing along with the best mini-game in a FF game. I must have spent 20 hours or so on blitzball alone...

For me FFX is second to only FF8.

If FFX had been released as a PS1 game then my opinion would be different, but I never really enjoyed a PS2 role-playing game as much as FFX. To me it was addicting and the story was great. But you can't please everyone, everytime. I still cringe when people praise FFXII as one of the best games for PS2, or go on and on about Persona 3, Xenosaga, Star Ocean Till the end of time... etc.

Final Fantasy X was a well made game. The characters were good for the most part, there were some retarded scenes, but hell, if a game makes you feel akward with random forced laughing sequences, that's still awesome, because making the player feel anything is what games are all about.

The story wasn't bad by any means, the graphics were superb, the sphere grid was original (not my personal favourite, but definitely original and still good).

Although it's not my favourite, I prefered VII, VI and VIII over it, it was still a very worthy play, and I've beaten it twice.

I enjoyed the game and its sequel (*gasp*) a lot, but agree that it is overrated. However atleast it is not as overrated as FFVII.

to put this bluntly...

FFXI was not popular by any means in the states...

FFXII had a mixed combat system many disliked

...therefore FFX is by default their "favorite" because the fighting system is classic.

VIII was far superior to IX in every way.

Why does Final Fantasy X get so much love?Dunbake

Eh... I played about 20 hours of it and thought it was a decent rpg with some major flaws: characters ranging from completely unlikable to downright annoying, a slow and uninteresting storyline (at least up to where I played), an overly complicated skill system and a ton of written dialogs that leave you begging for a little more voice acting.

I still think FF10 is pretty good if you're into JRPGs and will definitely make your day if you're a Final Fantasy fan. If you're new to the series FF7 and even 8 are way better choices, though.

I actually liked the entire game. The character interaction was goofy at times, but compared to other RPGs, it rocks.

First of all: WHUT THA' FAWK? Final Fantasy X is a dirty little dish cloth compared to VII.

I didnt really like Final Fantasy X, the sphere system was terrible. The weapon Customisation was terrible. And being able to hit over 9999 was terrible.

1st best - VII

2nd best - XII - the battle system is epic

3rd best - VI
