Did Gamespot buy them and shut the site down?

I guess they can afford to kill the compatition since the only reviewers they have these days are fan boys that wander in off the street and can be intimidated into giving high scorers to garbage.

How fast we judge... That is odd, though.

Buy them and shut them down? GameRankings has (as far as I can tell) always been owned by CNET, and use the same game database that GameSpot and GameFAQs use.

Quick update: Lee says the site's down right now. It should be back up soon, but for now it's redirecting to Metacritic's games section.

Yea now when you go there there it re-dirrects to metric after this message;

'Whoops. GameRankings is currently undergoing maintenance. In the mean time, please check out our sister site, Metacritic.com, for aggregated game reviews. Thanks for your patience. We hope to be back up soon.'
