the gamecube doesnt play mini dvds or mini cds which sucks

the ps2 and xbox cant play mp3 cds (music data that actually uses the mb on the cd 50+ songs on 1 cd) but they should

same goes for current gen its BS

the technology is there but they are just too lazy to make the consoles have it

stereos have it cd players have it car radios have it

To answer your topic question, because all of those consoles are outdated hardware, so why would the companies add more features to them?

To solve your problem, its called a CD Player. Look into one.

For current gen systems: You can stream music and the PS3/360 both have the ability to store music on them. For last gen systems: At the time of production, MP3 playback wasn't a major issue and only the PS2 was largely considered a home entertainment system and not a gaming console. The PS2 did have the ability to play retail audio CDs (and CDs you burned in the same format) because MP3s usually come from a pirated source. I agree with ramboturd72, get a CD player if you're that worried. MP3 is a horrible audio file anyway.

Becuase stereos, cd players and car radios have it.

Also a lot of people have PCs or MP3 players, if they add MP3 playback it'll just cost more.
