The PS2 has better hardware than the PSP, so I dont know why the developers dont make a PS2 version of the PSP game to make more profit like they do with the PS3 and the XBOX360.If so we gamers will have more game for the PS2.Only few games have been converted(Ratchet Clank...) , I wonders if they will convert the GOW:Chain of Olympus or FF7:Crisis core to the PS2 ?????

They did with the GTA: Stories games. I think Sony won't do it because they're trying to get people to buy the PSP.

I agree with LoserMike...The GTA games were an exception only due to excessive demand, and the fact that the PS2 was, for the most part, still the most popular console. Now, I think Sony would rather take a hit in game sales if it means 100,000 people will buy a PSP to play a PSP exclusive game. I bought one myself for FFVII:CC...although funny thing is, I bought a pre-owned one, and the retailer evidently had tested it with FFVII:CC in it...and kindly left it there for me! Free Crisis Core! CASHBACK!

I understand you, but what about the other developers(Square Enix,Capcom...) they dont need to care about Sony could sell more PSP or not, and they they could make more profit, especially PS2 is the most popular console

^^Do you have a PSP? I don't think Sony would port alot pf PSP games due to the fact they want the PSP to sell.

I have Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, and Spider-man: Web of Shadows for the PS2 which are both PSP ports. Plus there's the 2 R&C games, Luminus, and later this year there will be Jak & Daxter: the Lost Frontier. In addition to the ones already mentioned, I'm sure there's more.

Some of the games that have been ported from the psp to the ps2 look terrible (consider screen size) and controls can be funky since based on psp controls. Probably takes effort to make a good port,

people need to stop being so cheap. If you want a game on a specific system you buy that specific system, end of story.

the reasoning for sony or whoever not doing this is probably because they wouldn't see more profit making the same game on multiple sytems. you always run the risk of tanking on making a port. then you've got a few million units collecting dust and draining your bank acount. as a side note on chains of olympus: i plugged my psp into my tv and played that one for a while and it looked good, but obviously not as good as it did on the smaller psp screen. i ran into this on occassion when i played gba games on my gamecube as well. leave the handhelds in your hands and the consoles at home... it's just better that way.

It's not worth Sony's money to pump more ideas into a failing project like the PSP.gamesock
That makes no sense on several levels. For one, porting games to the ps2 is not investing in the PSP platform at all--if anything it's doing the opposite. Second, Sony has made it very clear the think the PSP a worthwhile investment as evidenced by the recent huge push of the platform--with all the new big title games and PSP Go coming out.

in all honesty, it would probably be better for Sony to have PS2 games ported to the PSP.

reason is that it would increase the sales of the PSP (can you imagine FF10 or GTA San Andreas on the PSP :D ).

even if it meant PS2 sales would go down, the PS2 is likely to be discontinued in 1-2 years, but Sony seems to want to keep the PSP for a while.

I don't know. But it's like asking Nintendo to port Gameboy games to their N64 or the DS titles to the Wii.

Sony only has say over games that the publish, not most companies' games out there. Also, the PS2 is better in some ways while the PSP is better in other ways. It's not an incredibly simple process because of that, even though the hardware is similar. Just get a PSP.

No it's more like porting over original GameCube games to the Wii with reworked controls, at least from a technical perspective..... oh wait.

umm... i believe that it is quite debatable that your statement about wii-controller functionality with GameCube ports is really a good comparison for psp to ps2 ports as a psp is essentially a ps2 controller with a screen in the middle and sans the r2 and l2 buttons and made more portable. with that, the only functionality that you gain is that you can play it at home on your tv, which you can already do if you have an hdtv and a 2000 model psp and the appropriate wire, whereas the wii-controller functionality gives you not only the option to play the same way you played a game on the GameCube, but also gives you the option to use new technology to get a different experience from the same game.

The PSP is not very similar to the PS2 when optimizing a game to use it. The addition of the second analogue joystick, along with rumble feedback and the analogue shoulder options make the control scheme about as hard as the transition from GC to Wii. You could map either port cheaply and ineffectively, using few of the additional components and get a clunky feeling game. Also the PSP uses a slightly different architecture then the PS2, which may require some code level optimizations to get playable frame rate from the PS2 despite the PS2 being more advanced. The Wii and the GC use essentially the same architecture, which is why the Wii is almost 100% backward compatible. Why so serious? It was a joke about reselling old games.

I guess they could port over some of the better PSP games GTA liberty city stories, Twisted metal head on, and Syphon filter dark mirror has been reverse ported from PSP to PS2. If you have the PSP 2000 or PSP 3000 they have the hook up cables to play PSP games on the Television.
