Why has Stargate not been made into an FPS?

Or maby even an RPG, it just seems like a no brainer to me. So many cool weapons plots and charactors to be used. I Imagine using the staff weapon shooting and meleeing with it. It just sounds like such a good thing to base a game on.

God maby someday! That is if It's done right, /nerd lick...

They tried, and it got canned in a really nasty squabble between developer and publisher.

Odd, I havn't seen something like that before...if only more publishers decided that there was indeed a requirement level needed to bring out a game tied to a franchise...*thinks of the thousands of bad movie tie ins*

Because we all know that games based on movies an movies based on games are great, you can take Spiderman 3 as an example.

There is a good reason for them to suck, because a big part of the budget has to be spent in the rights of the intellectual property of the film or game, so less money means worse results. Making a new universe, story, etc. for a game is better because it is way cheaper and it is tailor made for that game, genre, etc. getting far better results.

So help to stop the casualization of the market, do not buy games based on movies, thx.

Yeah a game based on stargate would be ace. As someone said, the Stargate : alliance game was scrubbed which is a shame. But there is a stargate MMO coming out in a year or so, which will rock!. if you want some stargate action, there are a few stargate mods for several games, including HL2 off the top of my head. I looked at one, and its comijg along nicely.

It is too bad that it got canned.  Maybe they should try again.  3rd person shooter would be alright for this game as well and Lord knows there could be a ton of sequels

I think as immense as the Stargate universe is, it would be a better MMO of some kind. Perhaps RPG or FPS.
