You Don't Know Jack Price Slashed to $19.99
What the hell the game came out a few weeks ago at $39 bucks... Not that I bought it mind you... but you got to feel for the 80k or so people that did.

Yeah, that's been a real problem this gen (might have been for past gens, too, but I don't know off-hand). You could go out and buy a game day one, sure, but who's to say it won't be discounted in a few weeks time? Honestly, I'm starting to think it's just better to wait and see if a better deal comes up. It's not like we're missing out by waiting, after all.
Wait... You Don't Know Jack (reboot) was 40 dollars at launch in the first place?!Vexx88
Yep. One of those rare games that launch at a lower price. Really wish more people would do that.
I need to pick up You Dont Know Jack, used to love the old pc game.Allicrombie
While it has a better price point now I still think it would have made a better Arcade title.

Well in a terrible move they already had DLC day 1. I need to go back to that but then I say that about every game I own...Nowadays I honestly can't think of any pre-order bonus that is truly "exclusive", It's either offered on the Store/Marketplace a week later or part of a massive "limited edition" print run that outnumbers the standard one (EA). I remember thinking I would miss out on the exclusive cars of NFS: Hot Pursuit, thinking it was a preorder exclusive, but to this day I haven't seen a copy of the standard version in stores.
i dont preorder games lol unless its a game for a new system and hte new system i preorder,
mario galaxy 2 was the only game i preordered this gen
and the only game i preordered beforte that was red steel and zelda tp at wiis launch
before that dont ask cause i didnt have to preorder a console til this gen started funny huh how now i have to preorder just ot make sure i get one now
its getting ridiculous im tellin ya,
If you wait, the game gets cheaper. That has been the pattern since forever. If I'm sure I will enjoy a game, I preorder it. If the game tanks and the price drops quickly, that kind of sucks for the developer, but if the game is a quality one, I don't feel cheated or anything.
I guess I could wait, but for me later often becomes never (if my reservations about a game are so strong that I'm not willing to pay full price, I almost always decline to waste time on it even when its cheaper).
I never pre-orderanything to be honest. I don't see the point in paying out the cash then not getting the goods for weeks or months even. May as well wait and get it at the time (or when it's cheaper). I know you get extra but I've never seen something good enough to make me want to do it.
I remember Pre-Loading Mass Effect 2 from Steam after pre-ordering, the game was still locked in Pre-load even a day after it's released and the pre-load was complete. I had to delete the local content and install it, I could of been playing it the day before, silly thing bugged on me. I bet it's going to do it again with Dragon Age II.
I pre-order for the bonuses, but if a game suddenly drops a few days after its released then that sucks. That's why I go with Amazon. They don't always do it, but they usually honor the new price or promotion if it happens within a day or two of its release.
Depends on what games actually. Back in the day the Halo (at least first 2) games never lowered price after years of being released. An Xbox Live example would be Castle Crashers--despite coming out in 2008 it is still full price. If you wait, the game gets cheaper. That has been the pattern since forever>CarnageHeart

Yeah but Castle Crashers (like almost all Arcade games) goes on sale on a Deal of the Week promotion (I picked up Lara Croft in this weeks) A little patiance on Xbox live will cut your game cost in half (And lets not even open that can of joy that is Steam sales.)

Here
I only knew that cause I never pay full price and I own the darn game.
ONe good thing about having a recent back log of games is by the time I get to the current new release, a few months have past and the prices have been slashed at that point. I almost think the best way to get great games at low prices is to constantly be bhind the curve of new games.

Wow, see that's why I refuse to pay full price for it. I'll keep waiting in hopes they do it again.
If you really want it, you can get it off PSN right now for $10, even less if your a Plus member.
I see where youa re coming from OP, but its rare that a game goes down in half it's price so quickly- i.e. in a month or less. Take all the big-name titles of late. Halo Reach is still 50-60$ new.
FF13 is been out for a year, and it took that long for it to reach 30$ new.
I only preorder games i really really want to play, or ones that i want that i know will get rare later. like Dragon Quest 6. If the trend for DQ5 is any indication, it's price will only go up as it becomes harder to find in stores.
