I always thought a man killing a woman was just as bad as killing a child. Isn't that why there's an expression that says "save the women and children first"?

That means that they are equal, if a man can die in a game so can a woman, both are adults.
Killing children is just crossing the line, exept if they are zombie children than its apparently okay...
I always thought a man killing a woman was just as bad as killing a child.

But men killing men is ok. And women killing men is good. Am I right?

I never said it was good, but it's obviously acceptable in the gaming world because you see it all the time.[QUOTE="ReddestSkies"][QUOTE="GAMESHARQ"]

I never said it was good, but it's obviously acceptable in the gaming world because you see it all the time. That's nonsense. If a female game character can kill a male character, the opposite has to be possible. :|
In the UK its illegal to sell video games depicting the murder of children. Since most games are sold at a global market, instead of creating two versions of a game (UK and non-UK), its just easier to make one and sell to both.
Well, i suppose two versions COULD be made.... but its a tough sell to the publisher to put in the extra money for additional versions solely on the basis that its important to your game to have children be murdered.
EDIT: Fallout 1 and 2 allowed you the ability to kill children. When they made a UK version later, they simply removed all children.
If it's not just put there for the sake of it, it should be permissable.
Legally, I think even if it's put there for the sake of it, it should be allowed. As bad as it might sound, it doesn't really harm anyone directly. I don't see being able to kill 'innocent' adult NPC's in video games a huge step above that, either ( though usually it's not just mindless killing ).
Never mind considering the crap that's allowed on TV.
I really hated invulnerable children in Fallout 3. You even get one that threatens to blow your head off, and your character still has to travel halfway across the map to rescue a bunch of kids.
So killing men is ok?I always thought a man killing a woman was just as bad as killing a child. Isn't that why there's an expression that says "save the women and children first"?

Thats just sexist. If in a game men can kill men, than they can kill women, and women can kill women and men. DeX2010Yes, it is sexist. What is your point?
I would definatly say killing children is accepted to be worse by most people. dkdk999
Which is why dead Space 2 is so shocking at times. I've played through the campaign five times at least and still haven't really gotten over how messed up the Pack and Necromorph babies are.
[QUOTE="GAMESHARQ"]So killing men is ok? Once again, I never said it was okay, but it's obviously acceptable in the video game world because it's done all the time and it's not considered "taboo".I always thought a man killing a woman was just as bad as killing a child. Are we seriously making no distinction between the real world with consequences and the virtuell world? It's totally disturbing that no one makes this distinction in their arguments.
That's a good question, but I think it's even a more important question as to why include a scene in a game where a kid witnesses the murder of his parents done execution-style by the North Korean soldiers in Homefront? And yes, the woman in that game was killed, if I recall.

I just remembered, if I recall correctly in Deus Ex you can kill children. Another one is Prey, you kill... ghost children, but earlier it shows children getting killed[QUOTE="kaealy"][QUOTE="Black_Knight_00"] So killing men is ok?Black_Knight_00

Shouldn't that mean killing female characters AND male characters in the same game?Equal rights, they fought for it.

lol get real, woman are adults too, if they banned killing woman then men too and we would have no one to kill xD

You're talking as if the kid is a real child. The most of the child in real life do would cry, but not witnessing such brutatility. Regardless, that scene pisses me off- like the writers are trying to shove down our throats at koreans are eeeEBiL. So much bs really.
Games like Harvester--now that's where you outright kill life-like children who acts on green screens. Utube Harvester game floor 3.
Why does it matter if women is allowed to be depicted to be killed or not? What you deem as right may not be so for others. It's a question without a clear cut answer.
Children could be killed in the old Fallout games, but the versions you buy from digital distributors now have the kids edited out.

Bubble_Man
But they can be patched back in.
i find fun killing people in games but have no desire in real life, so the games turning into killers is bs, probably just wakes some already mentally disturbed people, after all is just a game.
As for tc, lol at trying to compare grown people with kids. Do you really think woman should have that kind of special treatment? woman wanted to be treated equally that goes both ways, the good and the bad

That is some really poor rationalizing. And I never said that women deserve special treatment.
My point (which you're obviously not intelligent enough to comprehend) was that if devs are so against killing children in video games based on real life taboos, they should be equally against killing women in video games. The reason devs don't put child killing in video games is because it's considered despicable in real life. But the same could be said about killing women in real life. If a man beats a woman, he's considered garbage. If a woman beats a man, it's frowned upon but not nearly as much. That's just the way society is.

the only one lacking intelligence here is you, you start with "i dont think woman deserve special treatment" then you continue to compare woman to kids and basically state that it should be ok to kill man but not woman in games, shockiing surprise that is special treatment, i fail to see how killing a woman its taboo? its the same as killing a man or anyone else for that matter, kids are special because many reasons stated in this thread.
im sorry if i hurt your feelings xD
Yes. The line "Save women and children first." is of old times, and no longer of use. The modern version is "Save children first."It's not a men vs women issue.
Children = not okay.
Adults = fair game.

I REALLY wanted to kill the kids in Fallout 3, they were so cheekyI always thought a man killing a woman was just as bad as killing a child. Isn't that why there's an expression that says "save the women and children first"?

IMO killing anything without a weapon isn't okay. I think it'ss okay to shoot down children if they attack you with MGs, but it isn't okay to kill an unarmed woman as an exapmle ... but the ESRB seems to have their own definitions
