Why is Modern Warfare 2 such a bad game?

I admit, I have said some negative things about this game before, yet I continue to play it. I'm playing it as I type this even. Sure, the game has a lot of flaws, but so do most other games. So why not just take Modern Warfare 2 for what it is, instead of always hating it? After all, it's not like Infinity Ward (or Activision) are going to change anything significant just because you complain about it, they don't care, and by their standards, MW2 is already old and Black Ops is their new game.

Theres over 50 hate thread on COD:MW2. Main reason why I find it fun is the reward system (killstreak), shotguns, tons of friends, not repetitie like other shooters, and theres tons of ways to play it. Only real con imo is the nubetube + one man army andthe typical hacker/glitchs

The **** single player mode and the terrible community. Have two in a bundle and you've got a mediocre game.

The game is a stripped down version of the previous 2 games, albeit with an improved rank and unlock system. Recentl I uninstalled MW2 and reinstalled World at War and I have to say I forgot how good CoD could be. The maps are huge, well designed, the custom maps are on par with the retail ones, lack of matchmaking makes this game actually challanging something that mw2 never achived, 40 people on a map makes this game feel alot more like war. I had not played the older CoD games in a while so I was amazed how castrated MW2 felt afterwards.

Ive started only playing Barebones, and Search and Destroy. The game is actually decent when you dont reandomly blow up from a predator. Search and Destroy is good because it slows the game down and makes people play alot more tactically, plus killstreaks are hard earned.

I think the things that kills it for me is the knife, seriously how can you fly through gunfire unphased and jam a knife in someones chest?The game could at least be nice and kill you both.

AND

Snipers!!! GRR!!! Snipers are not shotguns, Snipers cant be aimed and shotin 0.4 seconds!!! I know its a game, but they should be more difficult to use so skilled snipers can stand out.

I was addicted to mw2 for 7 months then i got bored of it .

campain mode is short

the maps fail

annoying people on mikes

boosting

campers

people in your team always steal your care package if you die

there is only 3 multiplayer weapons:

-grenade launcher

-famas

-UMP

everything else is obsolete

I don't think MW2 is a bad game at all.

Sure, the multiplayer is full of cheaters, hackers, and 10-year-olds who talk incessantly, but I think every multiplayer has that.

Thankfully, my gaming universe doesn't revolve around multiplayer, as I play both single and multiplayer and like them equally.

Not sure where you're getting that idea from, because I have a ton of friends and family who play the game religiously and love every second of it. Not me, of course - I sold all of my COD games awhile back and haven't looked back since.

Of course, getting Black Ops will be a fresh start for me.

In regards to someone elses post, I think it's wrong to say that all/most companies in this industry care solely about the cash. I mean, you don't form a video game company to make mass money, you do it to make great games because it's what you enjoy.

Made even worse by hackers getting nuke in like 1 min. You try and leave the game, what happens? First game you join is that same god damn game. It happens 10 times before you rage quit, put on a suicide vest and go find Bobby Kotick at Actifail.

To be fair, the game has gorgeous visuals and great music, and a Single player is a lot of fun.............................for 5 hours. :(

Because it was made for money, not quality or fun. It's a **** game made by Activi$ion. They don't care, if they could charge $1000 for the game they would. They don't care about the industry or gamers, just profit. They are just as bad as Walmart, and other **** companies, that don't do anything for anyone else.

The money comes first, always. Because even if you're supposedly only doing it because you love it, you don't get to keep making games unless you keep making money.

Furthermore, with games having become complex enough that they usually can no longer be made by a couple of guys in their basement, you've got an added responsibility to earn money. Once you start getting people on the payroll, people who depend on money in order to feed their families, then the company has an added responsibility to make sure that the company is successful. You don't run a company into the ground, forcing hundreds of people to lose their jobs, just because you're concerned about art instead of money.

Yes, it's mostly about the money. Even for companies who actually care about putting out a quality product, it's STILL mostly about money.

And you absolutely form a videogame company in order to make money.

I mean...EVERYONE would charge $1000 for games if they could. Companies aren't charging $60 for games just because they're trying to benefit the community. They're charging what's gonna get them maximum profits. Period. Last I checked, Modern Warfare 2 was $60 new at release, just like most of the major games released this generation. So...if Activision is so ****ing greedy, then why the hell is it that most other games are $60 as well?

They don't care about the gamers? Well...last I heard, Modern Warfare 2 was pretty freaking popular. A hell of a lot of people like that game. So it seems to me that Activision is giving quite a few gamers EXACTLY what they want. What, suddenly they don't give a crap about gamers just because YOU hate the game? How does that follow? The fact is, if they made games that nobody liked, then people wouldn't buy their games. Instead, they DO make games that people like, and this helps them to earn more money. Period. That's all there is to it. If they really do only care about the money, then that obviously makes MORE sense for them to satisfy more gamers. And last I heard, there are a HELL of a lot of gamers who love the crap out of Modern Warfare 2.

Exact same thing with Wal-Mart. You don't get as big and powerful as Wal-Mart by simply rubbing your hands together while rolling around in a pile of cash. It's still a business based on sales, and you don't get those kinds of sales in the first place if you're not giving customers exactly what they want. You can't say "they only care about money" in the same sentence in which you criticize them for not giving them what customers want. If they DIDN'T give customers what they want, then they WOULDN'T be getting all that money. All people have to do is to not buy Activision's games. All people have to do is to not shop at Wal-Mart.

The campaign (can't speak for the online as I haven't played it yet) was cheesy and shlocky, with way over the top scenarios (even for a video game) and mostly forgetful chapters.

It was like a crappier version of Red Dawn, only the Wolverines were actually cooler than the dickheads you play as in this borefest. Oh, and the Wolverines didn't fire their guns off to the sides like idiots, either.

MW2 ended the series for me. I will not be buying the next (or the almost assured) next or next or next. And it's not looking good for the series in general -- the technical aptitude of Black Ops is shaky at best, and seeing elite operatives blowing each other up with RC cars is a good country mile beyond asinine on the 'ol Believe-0-Meter.

The graphics engine hasn't changed since CoD2

The single player hasn't changed in gameplay since CoD1 and is short and makes no freaking sense.

The multiplayer is actually pretty good, but it is infested with hackers and the new maps should be free.

I love CSS I agree it's alot harder than MW2 seeming that people legit dedicate their lives to it.

I agree with all your points except the PC since I never tried the game on PC.One good thing I liked about the game is the campaign even though the it was short and the plot holes in it. I mostly watched my cousins play the multiplayer. The multiplayer is a big fat joke. Even though it's kinda fun all the problems you listed make it a joke.The single player deserved at least a 8.5 or 9.0 while the multiplayer deserved around a 6.0. It's sad how Activision had to rely on the hype of MW to sell the game and to sell the bad dlc.
