I am not a handheld gaming fan, yet, I love my DS so much. Probably because nintendo is putting out games taht I am interested in on that system. I am primarily a console person, and love my Wii. However, I find it very interesting that ever since I got it on day one that other then a couple of games I never ever play it. Not because of the motion and having to stay active. Its just that they arent putting any games on that system that I care about. Does anyone find it interesting that the DS is so much more interesting in its games the the wii?

Because the DS's competition is nowhere near it, and third-party companies don't treat it like a joke. Just look at all of the support Square Enix is giving it.

I think that the DS is better than the Wii because developers can easily use the DS's interface to their advantage, making a great game (like that). Developers also try to make games with the Wii's interface and usually don't get the motion controls down right, or they make party games. Let's take Okami as an example, it had a remake for Wii last year, but the paint brush controls were very tacked on, and didn't work out well. Now if Okami were somehow ported to the DS, Capcom would have had a more responsive way to use the paint brush parts, and it would have worked out well simply because the DS is easier to work with.

Its true DS is better then Wii at the moment in more ways then one, mostly because its actually getting some games where as the Wii is getting shovelware and minigames or games that don't even last more then a day or two. Wii just has a couple of great titles on it and VC, take them away and the Wii is one of the worst consoles ever made. There are still many games that need to come out on the Wii so until then DS >>> Wii...which really * me off.

Yeah, I find that I enjoy my DS a lot more too. I agree that it has a lot to do with third party developers.

Because most people that are really into games that have a Wii probably also have one of the more powerful systems, and there is little point in putting those games on the Wii if people are just going to buy the version that has better graphics and all anyway. For whatever reason (Wii Sports I guess) the Wii has also done well with a significant number of people who are not normally into video games. Garbage games can sell gangbusters on the Wii, or at least enough to recover their small development costs. What should the best-selling game on the Wii have been? Super Mario Galaxy, in my opinion. (Wii Sports doesn't count.) Is that the best-selling Wii game? No, and as far as I know not by a long shot.

The most direct competition of the Nintendo DS is obviously the PSP, and the DS has a much larger installed base.

I'm sure there are plenty of other factors at work, but I don't really feel like writing an essay.

Good morning:

This topic is better suited to System Wars; please re-post in that forum.

Cheers,
