Why some fans hate each other so much

I think the reason some Nintendo and Playstation fans don't get along is because the Playstation was originally supposed to be a SNES-add on. (though both sides will say that one betrayed the other) oh, and because Final Fantasy 7 was supposed to be a N64 game but went on the PS1 instead.

I think the reason some Nintendo fans and Xbox fans don't get along is because Microsoft bought Rare. (or for some, its what they have in common)

Why some Xbox fans and Playstation fans don't get along... I think that (at the time) Microsoft felt that PC gaming was in danger because of Playstation and felt the need to make Xbox.

At least, I think that's why they don't get along.

I don't think there are any 'fans' that "hate" each other, and it would be quite sad to find animosity over video game systems. A rivalry and perhaps more support for a certain product, sure, but I would hope it doesn't stretch beyond that.

I don't see why they can't get along with each other. All systems including PC's have pros and cons. Maybe its just because some of us grew up playing a certain system, and feel a since of attachment to that brand, but there is just no such thing as the better system. I have owned many systems from the original Nintendo to Dreamcast to PS3, and all have there features that make them great. Fanboy vs. Fanboy hate is really a result of people taking product loyalty to a unnecessary level.

the reason why most dont get along is because most people can only afford 1 system, and will try and justify the purchase of that system by arguing that the system(s) they didnt buy are inferior.

I don't hate anyone. Well except that one guy from that one thread. Oh and Wii owners, but that's all. Well no wait and PC people(theyre just so smug!) but really no one else. Hmmm ok and handheld owners and that's it. Well, and people that bought PS3s at launch. Oh yea and also people that paid for several 360s but besides those few people I mentioned I like all gamers! :lol:

that REALLY depends, as long as everyone has thier oppinions I am fine with it ^^ You might like things I do not, but that is likely just my taste that differs from thiers.

When a Fanboy spread a lot of misinformation, and out right bull, about other systems, then I might get cranky and a few times outright annoyied. Partly because other people read what people write, and someone might take said bull, as the truth. That I do not like.

Also, I tend to not like people who are incapable of looking at things/viewpoints that differ from thier own, and not give it credit/dismiss it outright.

But that is true about any kind of people, not juut a fanboy for a specific system ^^

Fanboys are just morons or people who are so misguided that they think overwhelming product loyalty and bashing fans of rival consoles is 'necessary'. However, I believe people are allowed to grow attached to their preferred console, and are allowed to have their own opinions about others. It's generally why I don't involve myself in fanboy arguments, even though I just want to sit down and tell them how foolish they are acting.....

You should see the lowlifes on IGN as an example; in an article about Last Guardian appearing at Tokyo Game Show, all these people who are fans of the game are going on about how much they can't wait for it, and some moron comes on says "Shadow of the Colossus and ICO are two of the worst games ever, this game will be terrible, yadda yadda, PS3 games all suck"

Just do that, and they'll feel insignificant.....IF you want to get involved. Sometimes it's just funny to let fanboys have a crack at eachother, I'm sure it builds up their self-confidence by posting trash on an Internet forum.......
