silent hill is loseing its touch. alot. extremely. but before i get into details on why the 5th game wont be as good as you think it will be, let me explain why the second moviwe is gonig to be a failure if they keep this route going.

silent hill is not a splatter film or game. and everyone treats it has it is. i can bet that in all current games, no one can tell meon einstant in any games where theres alot of disturbing gorey parts. and by gore, i mean guts, not bood. you dont see peoples skin get ripped off, or haveing surgery on (hint hint silent hill 5) or other super gorey ness. the movie was a pointles mess of the games slapped togethor to make a gorey hell. and if they do the same thing, especially with christopher ganes, in the second movie, its going to be wasted. people, silent hill 5 is a pychological (i think i spelled it wrong) horror game, not a gutsey, gorey, violent blood splattering knifeing gunslinging, thing. in silent hill 5, the creature over the table about to like doing something to alex whos straped to a table with knives???? when does this type of stuff appen in the other games. sure, in sh2, mary gets stapped by pyramid head in the elevator. but if you remember, the camera zoomz away so it only gives you a thought, not a gorey mess. or when in sh3 u see the monster eating the guy, the guy is very dark adn you can make out alotof whats happening. or when the wheel chair has that bloddy trail, you dont see heather opening it up to a discusting gorey mess.

and about the comics. there disturbing violent gorey comics about violence. silent hill 1 had a good storey, and no gore to it. sh2 is pretty much the same thing. sh3 was alot more violenter. sh4 was nothing but violence. nad now i can only see one thing. the sereis is going to go down a path that i dont want to follow. a gorey fighting game with nothing but disturbing gut gore thats not even scary, its just discusting.

and the monsters. the ones from sh3 are probably the scariest. know why? because of there simplicity. sure the sh5 ones look scary, but when you have a simple monster that is also slightly beautiful, and jsut a hint strange, its terrrifying. but when u have a plain grotesque monster with boils and open skin, its lost all scaryness and has become disturbing terror. something on which i dont believe the orignial silent hill was based apon.

i wouldnt mind for a new camera system adn fight teqniques, but when the game get s to violent, adn gorey, with to many discusting distrbing pointless parts and to much fighting, then it stops becoming silent hill. who realy remebers what silent hill was based off of in the first and second games? sure. sometimes distubring scenarios, and confusing physcological horror, but not distubing gorey violence and blood baths. sh should remain a phycological horror with fewr monsters than more, that remains simple terror. because sh is leaning to belike the rest of the horror franchise. battleing grotesque scary monsters ad complete violence like re. (though i respect RE because its note gore, and its zombies). i miss the "stuff you in a cramped corridor, thats very dark, with only a light that extends 10 ft, a single radio, adn a makefhift weapon" now its got submachine guns, swiss army knives, dofights, hand to hand (whish realy isnt that bad unless you throw in martial arts) and alot of other weapons.

so realy? look at it like that for a second and ask yourself whats changeing, and what should be changeing. because once silent hill falls down that cliff of an average horror game with jsut monster killing adn tons of gore, i wont fall with it.

not me.

Actually, EGM says that since the first Silent Hill movie was a success that's why they're making part 2. So it wasn'ta failure.

They wouldn't make another one if the first didn't make money. This is with any movie, unless your George Lucas or Steven Spielberg who can fund your own projects. Also, Resident Evil got a sequel because the first made a lot of money, I think it's mostly DVD sales though.

i have only played SH3 and SH4 and i agree with you that silent hill is full of disturbing bloody environments and disgusting monsters but it is still a psychological horror simply because these features affect you psychologically. Since it has a very disturbing bloody environment and disgusting monsters it will leave you disgusted and affected psychologically. I had nightmares because of playing it. I was still scared even though its pure disgusting. Maybe it depends on the person but still.

i havent played the original SH so forgive for my ignorance but i still see sh3 and sh4 as disturbing psychological horror. Because of these disgusting things and terrifying terror these games are offering it has become more psychologically disturbing. I may say these things because i haven't played the original sh but this is just my opinion.
