OK so here I go why are games starting to suck? 1. more emphasis on graphics I like great graphics but the point is every other aspect of the game suffers (length, story, game play, etc) this also leads to over hyped games. 2.Over Hyped Games- here is a short list Halo (all of them) there not bad but it does not do anything new its just average Mass Effect- OK it looked good but the story was bland as soon as the ship was first talked about i knew what was going to happen also the game play was not great just average Fable 2- was what fable was supposed to be really not that much freedom and good/evil what did it matter. Dead Space-not bad but not a horror game bland story Any FPS war game they have done to death gimme something new the best ones out there are just average at best So before i get nasty responses just finish reading I know these games are made because they make money duh. but i also know people like what they like and insane graphics just seem to be one of those things. I had more points but ill see how people react to this

My reaction is that you are in need of a new hobby. I'm swimming in great games all the time, non stop. Your loss.

I see where you're coming from. You need to go play games with different play content. This can include games ranging from Infamous to Assassin's Creed. I recommend you try doing some adventure games since most of the new ones coming out are pulling out shooter content and more refreshing gameplay mechanics. As far as shooters, wait for Bioshock 2 (no guarantee on the greatness), Huxley (it's free!) and The Agency (PSP - sucks). If you're looking for a horror game don't indulge yourself in any new games. Check out hotel 626 online and take a look at some old games. I remember this one game on the playstation that was a real trip... if only I could remember the name!

K, but there's lots and lots of games that aren't FPS games with amazing graphics. Trust me.

Add Bionic Commando to the list. Man on the 360 every other game either has tons of glitches or a boring story with no content. It seems like the most unique and appealing games just dont do very well because they either don't appeal to people or they are to scared to try new things even the gameplay and content crushes the hell out whatever over-hyped crap is being called the best game ever that year.

Money is why we get bombarded with crap games but its also the reason why we dont get awesome ones. I think it has just become to expensive to take risks for video game companies or newbie developers. Newbies usually waste their own time and money doing stuff for as cheap as possable and then try to get somebody to publish it and then the game that could have maybe made it fails due to the low budget and crappy graphics/sounds/glitches.

It doesnt help that 60$ is the price of games. Saying that the increase in price is justified is bullcrap. The size of the gaming community only grows and grows. Its only the cost of consoles and games that shrink the community and turn away people who really want to play. 20-30$ games with millions upon millions of console owners would make most people not be so picky game sales would sky rocket.

Anyways.... for me 90% of games have always been crap. Look at my favorite lists compared to how many games actually were released. I probably have less than 50 games for each generation that I would actually want to take the time to play again or own out of the thousands upon thousands that were released. Hmmm that makes me want to go look those numbers up and see my actual % lol.

Oh but there are that 10% that are special and get most everything right and are worth every penny. Even in the current generation.

This. Try other genres, or take some time off to do other things.

I agree with the OP entirely. It just seems so much effort is put into a games visuals these days, and they kinda forget to provide a fun gaming experience, which for me centers around the gameplay

Lol, the other day i was at my mates house and we had a ps3 with all these new games, but we ended up playing Worms that he had downloaded from PSN.

Mind u, i think this is more to do with not many games having local multiplayer these days
